Bcg catheter

MY mum went to have her 19th bcg treatment today for bladder cancer but when the nurse tried to insert the catheter tube it wouldn't go in.

Mum has to go back next week to allow another doctor to try (there has been occasions where this other doctor has had to insert the catheter when another nurse couldn't do it)but mum is worried if this is normal or if there may be an underlying reason why the catheter wouldn't go in.

she had a camera check on the 30/11,which came back clear.

thanks for your help

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm afraid I don't know why the nurse couldn't insert the catheter into your mum's bladder for her to have her BCG treatment.

The doctor will try and insert it again next week and if they have difficulty, then I would imagine they would check if there is some kind of blockage present.

I know these things are worrying but try and take it one step at a time and I hope everything turns out to be okay.
