Unexplained swollen lymph nodes

Hello for a few years now I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and groin, they are there for no reason whatsoever and they never go away. There are about 4 on the left hand side of my neck, one under my chin and one on the left hand side of my groin. I had a scan on these about 2 years ago and was told they seem ok - I did not have biopsies or anything. Anyway they have started playing on my mind again and I am worried why they never go away. I also have some other symptoms now which I have seen can be a symptom of lymphoma - I have unexplained itching occasionally, fatigue, the lumps can also ache after drinking alcohol and it's started to make me think that I have a serious condition that isn't being diagnosed. I feel like because I had a scan a few years ago I'm making a fuss about going back when it's already been investigated - can anyone help please?

  • Hello Kate 1989 and thanks for posting,

As you have new symtpoms I think it is best that you let your GP know about them and take it from there. I don't think reporting new and persisting symptoms is making a fuss, it is just being sensible.

With the pressures on the NHS because of the pandemic a lot of people are hesitating to make a GP appointment, but with persistent and unexplained symtpoms it is important to see the GP and get checked out, so don't let this put you off.

I hope you can easily get this sorted out.

If you want to call us to talk anything over, our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
