Puzzled and Need Advice

Hi folks,

I hope your all well. My GP referred me to ENT clinic with the 2 week rule. This was on the 23rd December. I've since received notification online that I have been given an appointment at the ENT clinic on the 4th February 2022. I thought you had to be seen within 2 weeks? Mine is over a month to wait. Any ideas why this is please. I phoned the appointments department but they were closed and will be until Tuesday now. Any info you's could possibly give me would be appreciated.

Many thanks

John

  • Hello John,

I just wanted to let you know that our nurse service will be closed tomorrow Monday 3 January and our nurses will therefore respond to your message after that.

Thanks for your patience and a very happy new year,

  • Hello John and thanks for your post,

Normally if you have been given an urgent two week appointment your hospital will endeavour to see you within that time frame. You can read more about this here

Unfortunately due to the pandemic many patients have had to wait longer for their urgent referral.  This is not helped by all the bank holidays during Christmas and New Year.

Do give the clinic a ring today to see if you can find out more. If there is a cancellation then they may be able to fit you in earlier. It may also help to speak to your GP too if they feel that you need to be sooner.

I can understand how stressful it can be waiting for an appointment but unfortunately there may be nothing that the hospital can do.

Try if you can to keep yourself busy and your mind occupied whilst you are waiting.

If you would like to chat to one of the nurses on the helpline then you are more then welcome to give us a ring.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
