Nervous of follow up

Hi all, I recently found a small lump in my left breast, I've been to the gp and have been referred to the breast clinic for further checks, my lump seems to be in the same place but it does move slightly, my breast is starting to hurt (ache) but I'm not sure if it's from me thinking about it or from me feeling the lump. Im so nervous, I've got a 5 month old and petrified it could be something more. I've been Googling which I know I shouldn't but I can't help it, I also this year when I was pregnant had redness to my right breast which was double checked at the breast clinic which they did an ultrasound on both breasts and I was given the all clear, do you think they would of noticed anything on the ultrasound when they checked my breast if there was a lump or anything out of the ordinary? I'm so nervous and driving myself mad waiting for my appointment which is over a week away. Please can I have some advise.
thank you all! X

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It can be worrying finding a lump, but the majority of people who go to a breast clinic do not turn out to have cancer. It's good to know that you had an ultrasound within the year which would have identified any areas of concern at the time.

It's hard waiting for an appointment to come round, but keep busy with the baby and try and not google as it really can't tell you what the lump is in your own particular case. Cysts and benign (not cancer) lumps are common and a biopsy is also sometimes done so they can see exactly what may be going on.

Hold your nerve and good luck for the appointment

    All the best
