Appendix cancer // hemicolectomy

Hi

So in 2020 I had surgery for removal of a tiny bit of bowel, appendix and two types of cancerous tumors.  All good and being monitored for the following 10 years.

Recently I seem to have bowel movements which are really erratic and also includes the odd bowel incontinence, I seem quite intolerant to some food, what I am not totally sure. Additionally I also feel full up in the abdomen which I know is not always a great sign. Anyone had similar experience with probably bowel cancer as the appendix cancer quite rare?

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you had some surgery to remove some cancerous tumours a couple of years ago and are experiencing some symptoms that are concerning you.

I'm afraid no one on here will be able to say what the cause of these may be and it is important you speak to your doctor so they can assess you and arrange some tests if needed.

It may well have a simple explanation but to be on the safe side do get this looked into. In the meantime it may also we worth keeping a food journal so you can try and figure out what foods may be upsetting your bowel.

I hope you know more soon but do get back if you have further questions or you are welcome to call the nurse helpline on 0808 800 4040, Monday-Friday 9-5 ( excluding bank holidays).

    All the best

    Naomi
