Blood in the stools is common and it could be caused by piles (haemorrhoids) or an anal fissure see here and here . These usually settle within a few days or weeks however frequent constipation and straining can cause symptoms to go on for a lot longer. It’s always a good idea to get things checked out just to be on the safe side.
Because of the current pandemic it can be hard to get a GP appointment. It’s more likely you'll be offered a telephone appointment initially. After the telephone consultation, if they feel they need to see you, they can offer you a face to face appointment.
