Colposcopy

Hey ladies,

28yo had to have my first colposcopy after 4 hpv positive tests.

cervix is fine just has the hpv virus (whatever that means)

they found two lesions on the top of my vagina that they had to take a biopsy of.

that was 2 days ago, I've not really had any blood just sweet smelling yellowy discharge (the iodine I think)

today I had a poo, then bright red blood from my vagina.... then the worst cramp I've ever had it's made my whole body shake!

is that normal or have I knocked the healing of the biopsy sites?

I hope that all makes sense

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It's not unusual to have some fresh bleeding following a biopsy and you may find that you have some spotting for the next few weeks. However, as your  symptoms were unexpected, and if you remain concerned, do ring the GP for further advice .

Regarding HPV this is very common with the majority of people having it at least at one point in their lives. The virus can 'go to sleep' and not reappear at all, or sometimes after a number of years it may come back. The immune system usually deals with it, though smoking and

low  immunity does make it harder to get rid of. There's more about HPV   here

    All the best

    Wanda
