I had a ct heart scan Monday .got the results Tuesday heart was ok but they found a 8mm lesion on the right breast . Waiting for a breast clinic appointment. Been googling and panicking since . What does this mean . Thank you
I am sorry to learn that your CT heart scan has found a lesion incidentally. Things like this happen quite often and can be a worry until they are sorted out.
A lesion is simply an unidentified area of abnormal looking tissue. CT detected breast lesions don't have to be cancer - many if not most are benign (non cancerous) - but I imagine they want to find out for sure and hopefully rule cancer out. Unfortunately, until you are seen at the breast clinic and have been assessed, I don't think you will be able to find out much more. But remember this lesion may not turn out to be anything serious.
Waiting for appointments and tests can be an unnerving experience. Our usual advice is not to spend too much time on line looking for answers as they are seldom to be found there and doing this tends to keep any worry front of mind. Trying to stay busy and occupied is usually a better way of coping.
