Hello, So my name is simone and I have received a gynae oncology clinic appt in January and now I'm terrified.. so I have had uterine ablation in 2020 due to heavy periods and fibroids which I've had removed, and recently have been getting really bad lower left pelvic pain when I have periods which was normal for me with all my problems but it has been so much worse. I had a transvaginal scan and some bloods which the CA125 came back as 101 ‍♀️
but I also had a gynaecologist appt on the 14th dec and he said he will do another hysteroscopy and biopsy if he can due to my ablation and rpt bloods on the 6th January to re check the CA125. He mentioned it's probably due to my fibroids... and the scan showed thickening of my uterus which could be down to my age and the fact I haven't gone through the menopause yet.. and now I have received this letter my mind is all over the place... has anyone had similar please?? 

  • Hello Simone and thanks for posting, 

    I don't think this letter changes anything that the gynaecologist said to you last week so try not to let it unsettle you. Diagnostic services can sit within the umbrella of gynae oncology as a speciality, but a lot of people having tests in this department (in case cancer could be causing their problems) turn out to have something else going on instead. So I think this clinic appointment is just to do what the consultant said they planned to do anyway.

    Things like this are inevitably unnerving and even stressful, try not to worry (easier said than done I know) and keep an open mind.

    Hi Julia,

    thankyku for replying to my post. I think I just needed a little reassurance.. but as you say I think it's exactly what you say but it doesn't stop me worrying. I'm a nurse as well so a little clinical knowledge of certain things seem to make you worse xx Thankyou
