Worrying About My Biopsy Results

Hi, a few weeks ago I was admitted into A&E when I got some food stuck in my throat, I was admitted as an inpatient and had a Endoscopy. After the Endoscopy I was told that they found nothing sinister however took some biopsies of some ulcers found. Fast forward 3 weeks and I have given the biopsy report will go to MDT this coming Friday. I totally paniced as you can image. The consult secretary was kind enough to say the don't suspect anything sinister and are looking for causes why the food got stuck, Hiwever my GP told me they have found Epithelial groups suspicious of reactive or neoplasticism squamous cell proliferation. Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation and I can imagine that the waiting must be stressful for you.

At the MDT (Multi Disciplinary Team) meeting all the doctors involved in your care will meet to discuss the biopsies of the ulcers and what happens next.

Unfortunately until they have had this meeting no one can really tell you any more.

Even though it is helpful chatting to others on the forum everyone's situation is so different so it is difficult to compare one person with another.

Try not to think too far ahead until you know more.

You are more then welcome to ring one of the nurses on the helpline to chat all of this through. If you want to give us a ring the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
