Hi I had my first chemo on Friday,I experience diarrhea daily
Speak to your care team about that. Diarrhoea is one of the things they want to know about. You might need meds to control it. My wife seems to be the opposite and needed her constipation brought under control. Her aftercare team sorted this in no time.
Thank you I've spoken to them and have taken some medication, hope your wife is feeling better now
Hi and thanks for posting
I'm sorry to hear you are having some side effects from the chemo- it can cause a lot of anxiety. Hopefully, things will start to settle down in a few days, but if things are still not right it's best to either ring the nurse at the hospital for further advice or your GP. They should be able to give something to help with the diarrhoea.
If you can, try and not worry so much about eating for a day or so, but do make sure you are drinking - any fluid - as this will stop you getting dehydrated. Sometimes, fizzy drinks help though what drink helps most is different for every person.
There is more here about some tips to help with diarrhoea and information and here about treating it
However, if you feel that things are getting worse or not stabilising, and you cannot get through to any of your team or GP, it is important that you phone for advice from111.
Please do ring us here on the helpline if you would like to go over anything with us , on Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
I hope you feel better soon
All the best
Wanda
