Clinical Trial of NF1. Is there anyway my family member who is not a UK resident can join this trial in the UK or Europe?

Hi, I have a family member who is recently diagnosed with NF1 condition. He is currently out of UK and I want to understand that is there any way he can join any ongoing clinical trial in UK or EU. He was told to buy Selumitnib for his treatment which is very expensive for him to afford. His current health insurance doesn't cover any of his treatment. He is not an ordinary resident of United Kingdom and NHS funding is not available in his case. I am not sure how much private treatment will cost if he can come to UK to stay with me. Kindly, help.

  • Welcome to the forum cmaini although I'm sorry to hear about your family member's diagnosis.

You can find out more about cancer treatment for overseas patients and clinical trials on our website, but I would recommend giving our team of cancer nurses a call to discuss this in more detail. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to address your questions and concerns.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position with family or friends will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

In the meantime, we're sending you both all of our support cmaini and hope your family member is able to access the treatment they're seeking.

    Kind regards,
