  • Hi there,

They will likely do an ultrasound first followed by a mammogram and then may do a biopsy.

    Fingers crossed for you.

  • Hi Nicola,

I am sorry to meet you here, firstly I just want to say that there are lots of ladies on here that feel or have felt like you. You not alone

I am 38 with two sons so I can relate to how you feel.

Firstly take someone with you to the appointment even if they wait in the car, you will be seen by a Consultant who will examine you and will send you for a Ultrasound.  You may be sent for a Mammogram if further investigation is needed and even a biospy.
At this appointment they will get a good idea of what they are dealing with ( they did with me anyway)

I really hope that it is nothing and chances are that it will be nothing to worry about. If it's not the best news they will always have a plan.

I am here if you need me.

    Love Sarah

  • Hi Sarah thank you so much for getting back to me, I hope your doing ok did you have bad news when you went? Will I not have a mammogram first then just a scan? And if they see anything on scan then further testing such as a mammogram? Will I not get told anything on the day if I do need one I don't think I can wait much longer my appointment is on the 9th x

  • Morning,

Well I had a ultrasound first, but this could of been because of my age I'm 38, perhaps older ladies may have a Mammogram first, sorry I don't know which you may have first but I had an ultrasound.

you will definitely get all the tests done on the day and they will gather the Info they need. They will give you an idea of what they think on the day aswel.

I am sure you will be okay. I have everything crossed for you x

  • I'll be 32 when I go in as it's day after my birthday im hoping everything is ok it feels like im waiting forever lol thank you for getting back to me and telling me what you no I'll let you no how I get on xx

  • Hi hun,

Oh that's not the best day to go,, I am confident you will be okay, and if the results aren't as we would like I'm a little ahead in my journey I may be able too help.

  • Hi Nicola,

there's a few of us here in the same position as you lovley. I originally found a 2cm lump in my breast but have since found other smaller ones. I had a mammogram on my first hospital appointment yesterday (not sure if they do things differently in Wales with regards to scanning or because I'm on the cusp for regular mammograms anyway as I'm 49).

I have a follow up in two weeks on 15th where I'm going to see a breast surgeon for my results, where I may need an ultrasound and/or a biopsy too, depending on what the mammogram shows.

as much as everyone says try not to worry, you can't be help worry when it comes to a breast lump. I've tried to stay as busy as I can so I'm not constantly thinking about it.

I was the same too, worrying about family, especially children, even though mine are 27 & 23.

I hope the appointment goes well for you, sending love x

  • Hi :) I think I will be ok too it's just a scary time isn't it. Can I ask what kind you got diagnosed with and what treatment you have to have.. does it always mean having to stop work and having chemo and been really poorly before getting better or is there smaller treatments if it's not further along thanks z
