Swollen Lymph Node

Hello

I had the AZ vaccine 10 weeks ago now. About a week after I noticed a lump in my armpit on the same side as the vaccine. The doctor has said she believes it is a swollen lymph node and I have been referred to the breast clinic next week. I have a family history of breast cancer in my father's side with relatives who were in their early 40s so I am a little concerned. I am 32.

Ive read swollen lymph nodes are a side effect of the vaccination but that they should go down within a week or so. Being 10 weeks in has made me anxious. The lump is about the size and shape of a kidney bean and I don't have any other kind of symptoms that I'm aware of. Has anyone else had swollen lymph nodes this long after the vaccination or had anything similar that has not turned out to be anything serious?

Thank you

  • Hi,

Only just found this thread, hope your all doing well...ive had a couple of lymph nodes enlarged in armpit & towards breast since GP felt them in April, my vaccine jab was Feb (don't know if they were there before the jab which is the scary bit as I've had cancer in the lymph nodes under my other arm a few years back!).

Mine haven't reduced in size and it's 3 months ago now since they were found and 5 months since the jab!, I've had several ultrasound scans were they're saying they look like normal nodes (but I know they're enlarged, as they never used to be this big). It does a real number on your head!

Has anyone else had them stay enlarged for so long after Covid jab?

    Kind Regards x

  • My goodness, am i glad i've found this thread!

I have had a swollen gland in my neck (same side as vaccine) for 7 weeks now.
I've had my bloods done, which are fine, and they have booked me in for a scan (this will be next week).
At no point has either doctor i've spoken to mentioned or asked about my vaccination.
I've been in such a state of worry, and only just recently discovered that swollen glands is a known-about side effect, albeit a less common one.

I would also be very interested to hear how long you've had your swollen glands for, and after how long (if at all) they eventually return to normal size?

Sending best wishes to you all.
    Kindest regards xx

  • Hello

As well as this thread there is another with about 200 replies about the vaccine and the potential side effect, of course both equally important.

I had mine for about 12 weeks I think? One GP was horrified that I suggested it was the vaccine and the other said he would think it was highly likely and it is a good sign. I think some GPs just do not want to say it could be for fear of people not wanting the vaccine.

    Sending best wishes xx

  • Hi there,

Has anyone found a similar discussion around post vaccine swollen glands in the neck please?

I have had one for 7 weeks now, i noticed it approx 2 weeks after my 2nd vaccination.

    Thanks in advance x

  • Thanks so much for your reply!
And i'm so pleased yours has returned to normal.

Was yours in the neck, or elsewhere? x

I'm waiting for a call back from my GP to inform her that i feel this could be vaccine related, as it's the only thing which seems to make sense.
I've been having such awful anxiety attacks...i wish i'd known about this side-effect earlier.

    Best wishes xx

  • Hi Natalie1612,

Hoping all is now well with you xx

I wondered if you happen to know the wherabouts/name of the post you refer to (that has about 100 replies), i'm having trouble finding another similar thread.

Thanks so much in advance x

  • Hi. I had my second vaccine on 2nd July, the AZ. 3 weeks  ago I noticed a lump in my left armpit, same side as the vaccine. I have had a chest X-ray, clear. Bloods taken, slight raise in white cell count, antibiotics, 2 ultrasounds and it's the axcillary node that is swollen. I am being scanned again in 3 weeks time and if it has not gone down they want to do a biopsy. Can someone please tell me if this node will ever go down? I do not want to be having a biopsy if others have experienced weeks of the lump not going down. It only measures 7mm but feels huge and annoying and uncomfortable.

  • Good morning im new here just been reading the comments I had my Pfizer vaccine on Friday had bad arm all night Friday woke up yesterday and armpit is hurting aswell feels swollen compared to other one and felt a lump. I'm pretty sure it's connected to the vaccine as never been there and pain only started after vaccine. Hope you don't mind me jumping on these posts. Been awake all night worrying x

  • Hi

I have had a swollen gland now in my neck for around 11 weeks. It's on the left side the same side as my Pziser vaccine I only noticed it after my 2nd one as my neck was tender.

I have been to drs and they say its normal but worry as I have discomfort and its sore to touch. But when I mentioned could it be from my vaccine they said properly not. Wasn't sent for a scan just sent home. Just worring now as still there.

I also didn't realise glads in the neck could be Pfizer related as he said normal in the armpit they occur so glad to see your post that it is a rare side effect in neck.

  • Oh my goodness me . I've had the same but it's now been for around 11 weeks.

Have you been to the Dr regarding yours I was just sent home saying its normal and not Pfizer related but so many people are saying the same now. I only had mine after my 2nd vaccine. The 1st vaccine didn't hurt the 2nd one was like some one had punched me in the arm 5 times.
