Waiting for Biopsy results

Hi guys

I'm 31 years old, found a lump went to the doctors, the doctor referred me to the brest clinic, the did scans and biopsy there and then, this we a week ago today, I get my results Friday im so nervous really struggling with the wait, was everybody else like this?

Thanks Rebecca xxx

  • My appointment is to see an onco plastic surgeon, but this was also the case for my first referral appointment. I have a friend who has a friend that works in the breast clinic, and she said it's standard procedure. (however this may vary depending where you live, I live in Cornwall). I wasn't introduced to any nurses, etc the one who showed me to the room for my examination. They have also said mine may be fibroadenoma, however the lump was invisible on the us, so I have no idea! My partner will be coming, but will wait with our children in the car, trying to find people to lool after them atm is difficult, as the eldest two are home schooling. X

  • Hi I had my breast biopsies done 3 weeks ago and yesterday I got my results over the phone. The huge lump that I have is fibroadenoma and can stay where it is, but they want to remove another lump from the other breast, sure she said its papillary lesions? The waiting was torture I totally understand how you feel, and I had hoped this would be over yest but now have to go back for lump removal. Which is totally taking over my mind again! People always try their best to reassure you but unless they are actually going through this it's hard for them to understand. I had days before my results where I would feel like I was losing my mind with worry and my partner thought I had turned into some lunatic! It's normal to feel that way, and best of luck with your results. Good to know we are not alone x

  • Thank you for this. That is reassuring. I'm feeling better about it now. The stats are on my side so fingers crossed. Hope it all works out for you x

  • Hi, good luck tomorrow with your results. I've just been to the breast clinic, and they have said my biopsy results were fine. However, due to the surgeon not being 100% sure that they managed to get the lump during the core biopsy, and the bizarrness of the lump not showing on the ultrasound, a different onco plastic surgeon then examined me. He said the only way to be 100% sure I have no cancer is to completely remove the lump and. Send  for histology. So I am waiting for an appointment in six weeks to be seen. If the lump has shrunk, then they will accept the results of the core biopsy. However if the lump is the same, or is bigger, then I will have it removed under general anaesthetic x

  • Hello, thank you for the well wishes and I'm glad for the most part your results sounds positive. Hopefully you won't have a need for surgery. X
