Throat issues

Hello,

I know many people have posted to this effect but I'm struggling to stop thinking about things right now.

I saw a dr about a white patch behind my left tonsil who said it seems like an infection (without looking at it) so I was put on a course of penicillin.

It didn't clear it up and I still have the same symptoms - white patch, swollen tonsil, slight earache, sore throat, tender neck, feeling like something is stuck (all on the same side) and bad breath.

Spoke to my gp again and sent pictures, for him to call and say that he's urgently referring me and to not be alarmed when I see mention of cancer. Well, I'm alarmed.

Any similar experiences of a strange patch behind the tonsil, not on it?

Thank you.

  • That's great news .... Maybe now you have had this amazing news the pain won't be as heightened and you can start feeling normal again.  X x x

  • The pain and discomfort is still happening and it's making me really worried because the consultant couldn't see the mark I can see and my partner can see as well because I had my visor on I don't think he got a good enough look but he said he did but if he did he'd be able to see what me and my partner did. He called me today to try reassurance me but it's actually got me thinking worse as the MRI didn't pick anything up but it says I refused the contrast because I was scared of a reaction so what if there is something and it's not picked it up because of me. I thought if I needed contrast the images wouldn't be velar enough but they were and they saw no abnormalities but the report did say it was a no contrast scan. So the contrast may have made it more clearer. It didn't pick this mark up that me and my partner can see so that scares me too. I may have to go in and have the consultant look down with the camera. He's adamant he couldn't see anything but me and my partner are not imagining it. Wish I had the contrast but I am living in mould which I think is making me ill and iller so was worried about the reaction of the dye. Feel so afraid. Struggling to get up today.

  • Hi Lisa-Ann

I am ok thankyou, I only suffered for 3 days with my sore throat. Thankfully I don't know what that was. My tongue on the other hand, whilst 90% of my symptoms have gone I still have this odd feeling right at the back at the side. Sometimes it's not there, sometimes it's faint and more so in the evening it's noticeable more than ever. I have found I keep moving my tongue ALOT! Scraping it across my back teeth etc so I'm just hoping it's cos I'm catching it. I'm pretty sure after looking in the mirror it looks exactly the same as the other side but then part of me is saying there is something there. I am going to give it until the end of next week and then seek advice again, maybe ask for an ent referral. After seeing the dentist and GP last week they are adamant nothing is there! Who knows! My anxiety is very low at the moment though I don't feel like I'm fretting over it as much apart from the tongue scraping.

I have just read your previous post, I am sorry to hear that you are still in the same situation and are no better, you must be so worried, I would be too. It is good that your mri has come back clear but I can understand why you are still worried after not having the dye, I think with this horrible anxiety we have we constantly question everything! I still sit here and wonder if the doctors and dentist are wrong, I think that's what this health anxiety does, makes us believe the doctors are wrong. See you GP again and see if you can get another referral maybe for a second opinion. Does seem like it has been going on a while, but I'm sure everything will be ok hun, il be thinking of you and keep us updated along the way xx

  • Sorry to hear your going through this as well, my Dr referred my to ENT, got my 1st appointment tomorrow,  I've had the feeling of something stuck in my throat for over a yr, and this yr I have had sore throat and a lump on the side of my neck witch started small and has got bigger, not noticeable just by looking at me, also had a dry cough for few mths, they only thing I hope they don't want to do it put a Camara down my throat, Having Google doesn't help, I tend to search about it, then I don't like the answer. Good luck for ur MRI tomorrow x
