Day one - found lump, referred to breast clinic

This morning has been a roller coaster. Couple of days ago I found a lump.... was it real  ? Maybe not...maybe it wont be there tomorrow ( monday) crack on..keep your mind occupied..dont think about it. Monday...still there.... and now looking in the mirror theres a crease in the skin...ish... This isnt going to go away is it...  Tuesday...... right Stop being a coward..it might not be the big C.... but do you honestly think a) it's going to go away on it's own? b) you can carry on knowing it's there? ...

Wednesday: 9am emailed the surgery on their askmygp app.

Typed in " I've found a lump in my breast " ..cue tears...

Couple of hours pass while I try and concentrate on nothing much.

Call from clinician at the surgery..lots of questions about where it is, how big it is, does it move, is it attached, any redness, any discharge.

Referred to breast clinic. Usually two weeks but because of COVID...they are a bit behind ..could be 3 weeks.... . Be prepared they will probably do an ultra sound scan and a biopsy there and then.

Im not concerned about what they do ...liar... but the

.sooner the better. I just need to know what this is!! And hope it isnt what I think it is. No family history of BC..... everything crossed.

  • Hi Rachy,

yes please keep me informed to how you get on.

at first i wasn't too worried but then as you say some days i found myself worrying more when i thought about it, then i'd be ok when i was busy and then late st night whilst lying in bed i'd be overthinking! I will be glad for wednesday - to just know abit more hopefully.

big hugs and warmest wishes your way! Xx

  • Keep me updated on Wednesday I'll be thinking of you. Keeping everything crossed for good news.

it will soon come round. You keep your chin up.

sending positive thoughts and vibes xx

  • Where abouts are you jolamine? Not everyone is waiting 2 weeks for results.  I has my biopsy last wednesday. Results tomorrow.

Not being funny but you cant really tell someone what will happen to them or what to expect.

This thread is to support each other. Not quote treatments or numbers or what it could be.

    Thanks

  • Hi ladies,

Your all welcome and you will find we're all thinking the same things. Different stages and it seems we're all 'waiting' for either appointments or results. We're all here to offer support

  • Hi Whatnext,

  •

    Hi Whatnext,

Waiting times vary throughout the country, particularly with the current Coronavirus pandemic. I agree that every cancer is specific to the individual, but many like to know the statistics and some can gather some solace in knowing that the chances of being diagnosed with cancer are only 1 in 8.

It is better to have accurate statistics than consulting Dr Google, where information is often out of date, poorly researched and aimed at the spectacular.

Ten and eleven years ago I was fortunate enough to get my results in under a week, but that was before Covid 19 appeared. If you read some of the posts on this forum, you will find that some people are currently waiting 4 weeks for test results.

I hope that your results tomorrow don't show up anything untoward.

Do please keep in touch. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

This particular thread isnt here to give out accurate information as none of us are medically qualified.

This thread is supporting those who have joined it. Without giving anyone false hope.

And if youd read it. You would have seen that tomorrow, in my case,  is a formality before treatment starts. My first appt was last Wednesday. So results in less than a week. COVID hasnt affected the breast clinic here.  The team have carried on working right through.

  • Hi Whatnext,

My apologies. I had read all of your posts, but I misread your one with the results and thought that you had further tests. You are indeed fortunate that Covid has not affected your breast clinic. I only wish that the same could be said for all others!

I hope that you manage to finalise your treatment regime tomorrow. It's always good to get started.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • Good luck whatsnext for today! Thinking of you. Anyone else having tests, appointments also think of you too
