A slightly Raised ca125

Hi

I rang doctors at beginning of august after my period was 12 days late which isnt normal for me i knew i wasnt pregnant as my husband had a vasectomy, i was feeling bloated and had a pain that kept coming and going in my right side stomach and back and occasionally shoots down my leg.

I am 36, the doctor sent me for blood tests and my ca125 level came back at 42, so she sent me for a ultrasound scan  and transvaginal scan which i have had and everything was ok.

So the doctor sent me again on friday for a blood test she rang today it has gone up to 64. So now i am waiting for an mri scan.

I am so worried and stressed just wondered if this had happened to anyone else and what the outcome was i have 3 children and i am such a mess at the moment

Thanks

  • Hi ladies,

I've been lurking for a week or so now. I recently had my CA125 come back raised at 53. My periods have been getting heavier and lots more bloating and cramping throughout the month. I have a feeling of something being in my right pelvic area but can't actually feel anything. I get stomach ache and back ache almost daily. More worryingly perhaps is a constant pain under my right rib that wraps round to my back. It's almost always there but my Dr is sending me for a pelvic scan in the first instance (still awaiting a date) and things the rib/side pain is muscular.
I hope I don't have to wait long for a scan, but this feels like the start of a very long journey  that few of you have found answers on

  • Hi,  I am 51 years old and have had bloating and abdominal discomfort, fleeting shooting pains in abdominal area plus leg/groin pain for a few months now.  I actually first noticed it during lockdown but put it down to overeating.  I was told a few years ago that I had a small fibroid.  I have a mirena coil plus until a few days ago was on Estradot 75mcg HRT patch which I have now stopped.  Due to abdo discomfort and bloating I saw my GP and also have generalised tenderness in my abdomen, wind etc but particularly discomfort on palpation in right pelvic area.  CA125 is 37 so slightly raised.  I also have a strong family history on my dads side of breast and ovarian cancers in the women.  I am terrified.  I have booked in for private gynae appt on Tuesday and hopefully will have an USS then too.  What are peoples experiences with mildly raised CA125 as my GP didn't seem the least bit concerned which I find quite surprising.  Thank you xx

  • Hi, I'm 44 and just under 2 weeks ago had bloods done as I've noted mild left lower abdo heaviness with some general pelvic and backache.  No other symptoms except narrower poo.  I am an advanced nurse practitioner so just got bloods done with no exam.  My ca125 was 109 but all else including bowel screening was fine.  Got my scan on Thursday and I'm terrified.

  • How did you get on? My levels are 113 and my scan is Sunday. I'm so scared too.

  • Hi, well my scan showed absolutely nothing! I'm seeing gynae next weds and my ca125 was repeated on Tuesday but not sure what that result is.  I call tomorrow for that. I hate all the waiting x

  • The waiting is just for worst thing ever. Hope you next test results go well. Keep me posted x

  • You too.  Let me know how it goes x

  • How did the scan go? My repeat ca125 is now 33!

  • That's amazing news. My scan was all clear. He said nothing sinister. They want to repeat my CA125 too in a couple of weeks but also I've been referred to the hospital cause of my periods and pain. Also have stool samples taken but she doesn't think it's that (hope she is right) so glad yours have come down. Such a relief for you x

  • Hi

I recently had severe pain for a couple of hours. Ended up in a&e where they thought it was sue to appendix but on being scanned the day after they said fibroids and a cyst on my right ovary. I'd know about the cyst for about 3 years.
I saw a gynaecologist who said the cyst had grown slightly and I then had a blood test for ca125. This came back at 57. I've had further ultrasound scans today and have to have the blood test repeated later this week and the. I see the consultant next week. As soon as I went in for the scan the staff member said they weren't allowed to give me results as they would have to come from my consultant. Other times I've had scans they've been really chatty and telling me what they can see. Today it was so quiet and a completely different atmosphere. I am so worried. I am 52. It is helping though reading all your comments
