ovarian cyst or ovarian cyst i should be scared?

Hi Everyone,

Last month I got a bleeding that was unrelated to the period a large clot fell out, reminiscent of a miscarriage. Then after two weeks i get normal period like usual. My gp  refferal me to do scan. I had scan today. After scan i asked woman about results she didnt want speak wirh me. She said my gp will contact wirh me about results on this friday but gp contact me after 3 h from my scan. He said i must come for some blood test tomorrow and he refferal me for 2 weeks urgent appointment.  They found during scan some cyst 6 cm. Now i am really scared and i dont know what i should think... I am only 30y young mum. If they sending me so quick for blood test and to hospital this must mean cancer or if cyst it above 5cm tthis its routine and this not must think cancer ...

  • Hi. I'm a 57 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with a 25cm ovarian cyst. I had a swollen tummy noticed it in March although probably started 1 year ago but thought I was gaining weight. I had ultra sound and then referred to hospital. Scary I know and you think the worst. Cysts are very common.to cut a long story short I had an mri and my results yesterday. I have a borderline ovarian cyst which means it could be cancer but it's contained within the cyst and not gone anywhere else I am now awaiting surgery to remove and then no further treatment should be needed. Your cyst is small so they may be able to drain and remove it. Try stay positive it's hard I know. Just take each stage as it comes. Deal with the now and not what might be. That's how I've got through this. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts

  • Hi thank you for your reply. I am absolutely in panic, can't eat can't doing anything. Did you have CA-125 blood test? If yes what was your result? I am really scared about myself. Its 6 cm but as well its some water inside me.. And some blood vessels inside my womb. I am reading. Online this seems like cancer I am absolutely going crazy.

  • Hi yes I had a normal ca125 test.mine has little pockets inside with fluid in. I had a scan like you and was referred fast track. I like you was very worried.when I had my first appointment with gynaecologist he was so matter of fact. Cyst are quite common. Hopefully they may just do what they call watch and wait to see if it rights itself. Mine is too large and unlike you I am older and have been through the menopause so I'm having everything removed. Scary but necessary. Keep me informed as to how you go on sending you big hugs

  • Hi, I had a ca125 test in December which came back raised at 135 so I was referred for a ultrasound scan which showed what they called an ovarian mass which was very vascular so I was referred on the 2 week pathway to a gaenocologist, she sent me for a ct scan, the scariest part was waiting for the results, I was told that it looked like early stage ovarian cancer and I was booked straight in for a total hysterectomy (I'm 50 so not childbearing age anymore) , removal of womb, cervix, ovaries, appendix and omentum which I had on March 4th and I had to wait another 3 weeks for the results which I am pleased to say was a serous borderline ovarian tumour so no further treatment required, it's natural to worry but just keep in mind that they have to send you on the 2 week pathway even if there is just the slightest possibility of something serious, its scary but most ovarian cysts are benign especially when your younger like yourself, like Jackban said just take each step as it comes, all the best to you

  • Hi thank you for replying to the young lady who is worrying. I am slightly older than you but it seems that you have already had the op that I'm going to have. I've no date as yet but it should be soon.its hard with this virus going round. Which in itself is a scary thing. Can I ask did you have a laparotomy as mine is 25cm that's what it will be and also as it was not long ago can I ask how you are doing regarding recovery. Hope you are well now and on the path back to normality

  • Hi Jackban, hope you're well, I had an open hysterectomy because I think they were sure it was cancer and they removed my omentum which is a layer of fat that covers your organs and they had a good look around while they were there to see if the suspected cancer had spread so I have a scar right from 4 inches above my navel right down to my pubic area, as regards to my recovery it went so much better than I expected, I had the op on Wednesday and was back home by the Friday evening, it is quite painful at first but bearable and  is controllable with over the counter painkillers, I'd say its more of a muscular pain when you stand up but you just feel better and better every week, my op was 14 weeks ago and I'm back to normal now , I found walking to be good exercise after a few weeks, only small steps first but after about 7 weeks I worked up to 10,000 steps most days during lockdown, just listen to your body and get plenty of rest to help your body recover, if you need to chat when you get your date just message me or on here and I'll be happy to help, you'll be fine

thank you for your support. Tomorrow I should have blood results ca125 I am very afraid. On Monday at 9 I am going to the hospital for further tests. I am young but I already have one child, so if I am forced to remove the uterus and ovaries I will not break it. I just don't want to die of cancer at such a young age and leave my daughter. I hope that everything will end well.

today I have a terrible burning sensation in the vagina  and terrible stomach ache. and I feel something pushing my bladder.

did you also feel such pain?

  • Thank you for your reply. I have my pre op assessment on Friday so hopefully I should get a date for surgery soon. It's nice to talk to someone who has gone through the same. I wanted to go private as I have private medical insurance but have not been able to as all private have gone to nhs to fight the virus. It's been so hard to get anything done with thi s virus as it seems that's all they are bothered about. I rang docs in March about my enlarged stomach and was put off till may when I said I needed to be seen. If this virus had not been around I would have been seen in March and probably been done and dusted by now. I'll message you again if that's ok if I need anymore info but thanks again for your support

  • Hi, good luck for your pre op on Friday, I was lucky that I had my op just before the virus properly started spreading, I remember a man coming into the ward to bring his wife and he had a mask on and he didn't leave the side of the hand sanitizer and I thought what's wrong with him? Lol, I didn't realise how bad the virus was getting.

You can message me whenever you like I'm happy to help and it really does help having someone to talk to that knows what you're going through, when I was going through my ordeal I was talking to another lady on here that was at the same stage of diagnosis as me and we were both waiting for our results together, I didn't feel so alone and luckily hers was borderline as well, so keep us updated and like I said message whenever you like.

Hello everybody I received the results ca125 results its 25 u/ml so is normal. I have endometrial cyst and endometriosis! Everything for surgery. In addition, stones found in my gall bladder to remove. So i must wait for two operations ... I'm at home for sick leave because the pain is terrible. Everything really hurts. They say that this most likelyis not a cancer, because the results of CA125 are good. but they have to take biopsies anyway. They signed me up for surgery. supposed to take place at the end of July, so I'm waiting. But when I was on my first visit to the doctor, they told me that I would have to wait up to half a year because of the coronary virus. So I even considered going to Poland and doing it privately because I was very scared. But I called the hospital every day, it hurts me so much, etc. I got urgent surgery because I have pain. I also think that if you want to speed up surgery, you need to call the hospitals and complain about your health and well-being. For me it resulted and from the 6 months of waiting on the surgery it will take place at the end of July.
