Nervous and scared

Had no symptoms and did my two yearly FIT test and on Christmas Eve it came back positive. Now booked in for colonoscopy in a months time. Now I'm scared rigid of the MoviPrep and the procedure. Since Christmas I seem to have developed nearly every symptom other than blood in poo.

  • The Picolax went ok. I naturally drink lots of water so drinking 3 litres in between was fine. I fasted two days and I think it helped.

The colonoscopy was easy and interesting but sadly they found a 3cm tumour. Now I'm waiting for biopsy results and a ct scan to check if it's spread. Apparently I will know what will happen in six weeks.

Dreading it but will start getting fitter and fight it.

  • Sorry to hear they found something.

I'm sure you know what I mean, I think knowing one way or the other is a little easier than swinging in the middle, not knowing.

Now you know there is something and everything is put into place, ct's etc, have you been seen by a specialist nurse today? They are really good and always at the end of the phone if you have questions.

I obviously was shocked when I found out, had tears, told family etc then I went into fight mode and thought this isn't going to win.

You're going to be scared and have questions but i'm here if you have any.

Bowel cancer is common and the cure rate is very good when caught early.
