Can anyone relate. Itchy Nipple/Boobie question

I don't know where to start... so I went to the doctors just after my holiday in june due to an ache in the top left of my right breast, which mirrored into my back. He had a feel. Said he couldn't feel any lumps etc in any boobs and he suspected some kind of muscle damage. So I left it a couple if weeks, the ache was still there, intermittently. I saw a different doctor who I think could see I was anxious (I suffer with anxiety and health anxiety) and she has referred me to the breast clinic. This was last wednesday and I haven't got an appointment yet. Anyway... since then my nipple has started itching, not on the surface, its inside. I've had this before... a few times before actually, but it's never lasted this long. My nipple (to me) looks fine. It's just going red where im messing with it. It's not an itch as such, I feel like I have to pinch my nipple like a radio nob. If that makes sense. It's not red around it, theres no rash, pitting or anything that I can tell. I just can't get rid of this itch. I started taking evening primrose oil yesterday and I've bought some antihistamines. To no avail. I'm terrified that its something more sinister. I've read up on pagers and IBC (nor me or my doctor has found a lump) I'm going insane. I have 2 boys aged 3 and 10 and its consuming me. Has anyone else had this before???

  • Hi I hope you don't mind me tagging on to this post ..! Hope your appointment goes well for you today, and you get some sort of result I will be thinking of you, ( hope I've got the day right 20th ) hope I have ...

I'm feeling worried too, about 15 days ago in the shower I noticed that one of my breasts has changed shape, by look and by texture. I guess I'd describe it as an elongated shape, it seems heavy, if that makes sense, it's a red rash, a bit pimply looking with a tinge of a bluey colour. It's itchy but not all the time the rash covers prob half. It is from the middle to the outer side towards my armpit. It's also quite warm sometimes really warmer than warm. I went to the doctors last week, my GP didn't exactly put my mind at rest, after feeling all around, he took a digital picture of the rash also, asking why he'd taken a photograph he said its normal procedure to get photographic evidence of any type of rash anywhere on a body... he said I should hear quite quickly he has marked 'urgent' on referral. I left the surgery feeling tearful and alone, he said as I'm 53 years old and post menopausal is main reason for the urgency of the referral appointment.

I live alone, my three grown up sons no longer live with me. The more I look the more abnormal it looks. Though NO lumps, NO pain, though nipple is tender. I'm desperate to Google my symptoms but I honestly can't do it. lol

I have a friend who Google's absolutely everything and anything, giving any info found in graphic detail, loves diagnosing symptoms and telling you what to do next. Don't get me wrong I sooooo want to type in these issues but tooo scared.

i remember a few years back a friend found a lump and her appointment at a clinic took I think almost 5 weeks, thankfully her lump was a cyst which was easily removed thank goodness.
I don't think I can wait that long, do you think if I haven't heard maybe by Wednesday I should ring the clinic up ??
so so worried, that worried I'm imagining all sorts of illness issues, such as feeling nauseous, headaches, sore muscles/joints, wheezy breathing, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing..  I think I'm over thinking creating and imagining these other things, never felt all of them 15 days ago..

sorry for going on and on and on

Just want to know what it is.. anybody

    have any ideas??
    thank you

  • Hi Lauren ♡

I dont mind you hopping on. I've not been on here since all of my posts (I suffer with health anxiety) and although this site was a massive help... it was also a bit like a Google search for me a times. I would be looking and triggering myself.

I ended up finding a lump in my left breast (the opposite breast to where I was getting the itch) luckily it was fine. I had scans and a biopsy, and it came back as trauma from a bump or something. They were so, so quick and efficient. The wait is usually 2 weeks. With covid I'm not too sure what the wait is... i don't no if you've been to the breast clinic before but they are lovely people. They really put your mind at ease. I was a complete mess at mind, but they were lovely. If you haven't heard in 2 weeks I would chase it up. I think the things that you mention at the end of your message will be anxiety. Your thinking about it and its constantly on your mind, causing you anxiety. It sounds hard, but try and keep busy. Find something you love and keep doing it. Ill keep my fingers and toes crossed for you lovely xxx

  • Hi Kelly,

so glad all is ok with you, apart from the bump from the trauma bit obviously.. I do suffer from anxiety so the issues are exactly what you said.

I do need to keep my mind busy, been told a book by Jo Jo Moyes called the ' the one plus one' is a good read so going to try get into that a bit later on. Catch up soon and thank you for kind and wise words, Lauren xx

  • Hi Lauren, how did you get on? I hope all was well and you ladies above are all safe and well too.

I've just googled the symptoms due to having a itchy nipple/shooting pains in my right breast. Maybe I should consult my Dr after all xx
