Has anyone had misdiagnosis fibroadnoma following biopsy

Hi

I found small lump on left breast and had mammogram last Wednesday then they did another mammogram as consultant wanted closer look on right breast then they did ultrasound and then they took biopsy think core one, it made staple sound three times  and said they found what they believed to be fibroidnoma on right breast but expect biopsy to confirm this or a diff benign lump that may need surgery can anyone advise if they ever got it wrong for them or do you think I’m over worrying?  They told me I won’t have results until 7working days after with weekend that will be 9days, due to find out in three days the waiting is so hard.

Thankyou x

  • Hi I was diagnosed with a Fibroadenoma in left breast 3 years ago following biopsy They know the difference and if it is suspicious of cancer the cells are slightly star shaped I was told but need to confirm so took biopsy to confirm . I was also informed that this could not turn to cancer.

3 years later second mammogram recalled again Sam e breast but informed they think this is a lymph gland and a low suspicion of cancer.  Had a needle aspiration today and will have to wait a week when nurse will telephone me with results. Anybody else else experienced anything like this in same breast

  • Thanks for ur response and I pray that it isn’t anything to worry about and if it is that hopefully they have caught it in good time for u, I worry too because my mum had breast cancer that stated as very small lump but by time it was ever noticeable and no mammogram ever showed anything it was already through lymph glands and had spread xx but I have heard much more fortunate stories from others let me know how u get on take care

  • Hi,

just wanted to say I got my results it was so hard waiting but thankfully it came back, I’ve benign 18mm Fibroadnoma.  They will bring me back to review the initial lump I’d gone about in first place as nothing showed up for this on mammogram and have me back in a year. I’m pushing for some kind of screening because my mum died of breast cancer which had never been picked up in her mammograms so they will let me know u see the guidelines if this is possible. Thanks for support while I waited and wishing anyone worrying or waiting the very best xx
