Raised CA125 tests - unusual symptoms - ultrasound booked

Hi there. I'm new to the site. I'm really anxious and nervous, and I just don't know how to cope currently. I feel like I'm in limbo. Late last year I started getting flair ups, which included indigestion and feeling sick, constipation and bad pain in my middle tummy which went over the my right hand side. It would then go back to normal, and I'd be fine. I had about 4 of these flair ups from late last year up until today. The last flair up was really intense and lasted 4 days, the same thing happened constipation, sickness, middle tummy pain and then left side pain around hip area. Last couple of days of the flair up, my stool was yellow diarreah. I went to drs and had numerous tests, and the drs suspected I had gallstones. When I was initally tested for inflammation my placelets were a little high, but my last blood tests my placelets were normal and upper abdmoninal scan came back fine. I went back to the dr, because since my last flair up, for a month I kept getting this niggling pressure pain on the right hand side of my belly button, and also pain on my upper right hand side . I also had the tinyest little bit of blood in my stool on about 4 occasions since last year. The dr decided to take another full blood count, stool sample (which came back fine) and she decided to check on my overy, just incase. Last week I had a call from my dr, and she sounded pretty serious and explained that my CA125 test came back abnormal. I was really shocked, because I just didn't even think it could be to do with my ovary, I thought it was more to do with my bowel/ gastro. Since last friday I've been unable to hardly eat, I'm losing weight mainly because I've been eating so much healthier since I was suspected gallstones, but I'm really hardly eating anything the last couple of days since my results currently cause of the stress. Last couple of days I've been having yellow diarreah again, similar to what I get at the end of the flair ups and I feel like I'm getting indigestion more often the last month, and weeing a bit more. I'm also getting pains on the bottom right, but really bad sharp pains at times on my upper right abdomen. Today I woke up and had diarreah, and I felt so nausious, and more pains especially top right abddomen, but I'm also feeling like a pressure on the right hand side of belly button that I've had since my last flair up a month ago. I don't know if it's stress that's making it all worse etc, but I'd really appreciate some advice. My Dr has sent an urgent referall for an abdominal scan the week after next, and I'm a mess. I'm so scared of what they'll find. I'm 36, and I just didn't think that ovarian cancer could strike, especially with these types of symptoms. I feel weak currently, probably because I'm not eating but I feel like every symptom I'm getting makes me feel worse, like they're going to find something bad. I am ovrweight, and I wadn't eating healthy before all this started last year, so I'm worried I haven't helped matters, but the last 1-2 months I've been eating really healthy, so I can explain the weight loss, but I just can't understand what's going on within my body. I'd be grateful if I could get a response, and anyone who's possibly been in the same kind of situation.

  • Hi

I would say the appointment is to discuss results aswell.

Take care everyone and try and enjoy this lovely sunshine.

    Xx

  • Hi all

The consultant has just rung after having an MDT meeting to say everything is benign which is such a relief, however I do have a blockage in my tube which is causing me the pain, I will need an op to remove it. That was the reason for my raised ca125. So please don't assume the worse.

Will keep looking at your chats to see how you are all getting on.

Much love and prayers to you all x

  • That’s wonderful news! Sad about the op you need to have but thinking of the alternative a congrats is in order! Hope you can rest well now! Let us know how you get on

    much love xx

  • That's fantastic news about it being benign! And its reassuring to know what high CA125 can link to other causes. It's not great that you have a blockage, but I bet you're so relived with it all. I seem to be feelikng worse currently, I just feel so sick and lack of appetite - and bad diarreah. My sickness and loss of appetite has seemed to have began after I heard about my raised CA125, do you think it could be more down to stress or more sinister? It's nice that I have suportive familty, however at the moment judging by their texts/ calls etc they are talking like I have cancer, so it's hard to deal with in a way. Anyone else feel like that? Has anyone expereinced bad pain on the top right, around armpit to back? It keeps coming and going for me, plus pain around right belly button side. It's just so worrying all the time.

  • That’s strange you mention the pain on the right of the armpit at the back as I’ve got that too.

I would say the tummy troubles will be stress related mainly. I get it every time I’m stressed or worried about something.

I know my tests were only yesterday but I can’t help looking at my phone expecting a call all the time

I’ve not told anyone at all apart from you guys here about it mainly I don’t want to worry them and also coz I don’t want to talk to them about it. My mum always thinks the worst and I don’t need that.

  • I hate those callers!!

Im being tested for that too got a whole bunch of tests to be done so if anything comes back and they call me and don’t tell me which one it is over the phone it’s going to send me loopy!!

  • Hope everyone here is okay

i have my scan booked 23rd

they told me over the phone my results were normal but when I went to my appt the CA125 was red flagged so I’m annoyed about that

    anyone got any updates?

  • Hi Joanne,

That’s good you have a date for your scan. Do you mine me asking is that for an ultrasound or a CT scan? That’s frustrating that the results they gave you over the phone didn’t match up with what they said in person! Otherwise how are you doing?

Since having my first doctors appointment on the 20th of June I’ve since had bloods taken (results came back raised CA125), then an ultrasound scan which showed a large mass attached to the uterus wall and also some unknown liquid at the bottom of my pelvis which I have no idea what that could mean, if anything! I’ve got my gynaecologist appointment tomorrow and have no idea what to expect. I’m guessing they’ll confirm whether it is a fibroid or not and then the best treatment from there. I haven’t had children yet, but it’s sometihng I definitely want to do. I’ve read some other women on here have had upset tummy’s, mine too has been very upset but I think that’s down to the anxiety of not knowing - it’s incredible what effect the brain can have on the body!! Which is why it’s so important to try and stay positive and to have a positive support network around you.

Has anyone else been experiencing a pain in their hip? The last 2 weeks I’ve had really bad pain in my left hip and I wondered if it was related maybe?

Also to anyone that’s seen a gynaecologist, do you have any advice for what to ask them and what to expect from my first appointment?

Sending you all lots of love xxxx

  •  Hi J-liz

my scan is an ultrasound, abdominal and transvaginal.

Sorry to hear theyve found found something on your scan Hopefully they can give you some answers at you appointment. I agree, definitely ask about results times and how you’ll be contacted as the wait is horrific. They’ve been super fast with your testing which is great. The fluid could be a burst cyst I had some fluid on my last US 5 years ago and that’s what they said it was. Hoping for good results for you please keep us updated if you can! I’ve got pain under my right rib which is strange.

Yeah the brain likes playing up :(

  • Hi guys!

I wish you all the best with your results. I had my pelvic ultrasound scan yesterday, I had to wait around all day as it was at 17.50pm. Was a terrible day. The sonographer was chirpy from start to finish so she wasn’t giving anything away to me, I really couldn’t read the situation. It was literally 5 minutes for the whole scan, which was so quick. Wasn’t expecting that. She then just said I’ll hear in 7-10 days however when I had my upper abdominal scan did suspected gallstones it was much quicker. It’s horrid cause it’s just more waiting now and just got to wait until they let me know what they find. Been trying to keep busy but it’s hard. Joanne - that’s shocking about the blood results - did they. Explain anything about why that happened? I’m also getting pain under right  rib too - had it for ages now - that’s why they prob thought it was gallstones but since got my raised CA125 I have pains all over and got pain on right bottom back now too and more pelvic pain - can’t tell if it’s stress too or not!
