Really scared large breast lump and enlarged lymph node Help

Hi, I am really scared awaiting breast clinic appointment. I have large lump in left breast and large lymph node under my arm. Really frightened it has spread everywhere. Have back pain and loads of other pains and am loosing weight but not eating much either. Think these may be anxiety related but scared incase it's not. Have phoned to check referral has been received and it has but in absolute panic. Worried they will say something awful. Please help.

  • Thank you, so kind of you. I'm so pleased you've finished chemo and that you think the lump has disppeared, what a tough journey but you've come out the other side - so happy for you too. I hope you do something truly wonderful to celebrate - you deserve it! Treat yourself! xxx

  • I have j6st come onto this site and I wondered how you got on and what happened because your scenario has just happened to me. I pick up my results on Thursday.

  • Hi Missy J,

I am so sorry you are in this situation too. Unfortunately I do have breast cancer and I am still getting treatment for it but there is lots of treatment out there and so I am doing well and keeping positive. Do let us know how you get on on Thursday. The waiting for results is absolutely the worst possible time. When you know what the situation is and you have a plan to help it feels much much better. Will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed for you too. Xx

  • Hi,

I have just come across this page after finding a lump too, I hope your results were ok Missy-j or if not you are getting the proper treatment and care needed.

I found a lump in my left breast a couple of weeks ago and I am now worrying myself sick.

The doctor did an examination and said there is defiantly a lump there and referred me to the breast clinic on the 7th of December. She said during the examination she couldn't feel any swelling of the lymph nodes which is a good sign, however after checking my lymph nodes in my neck at home I have 2 enlarged ones on each side that are not firm or painful, now I am worried I have advanced cancer and it has spread.

I have also been suffering from back ache and leg pains down the other side of my body (right) for the last few months which I had put down to sciatica as that seemed to be what the symptoms pointed at, I am now worried that it is another thing that points to advanced breast cancer and extremely worried. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old and I am struggling to focus and not cry in front of them.

Does anyone have any advice or going through the same as myself that could discuss?

    thank you xxx

  • Hi Brunetteworrier, I am so so sorry you are in this position as well. Waiting for appointmnets after you have been to the GP is absolutely the worst possible time and what ever the outcome it is better than this waiting. As you can see from earlier posts I do have cancer but I am getting good treatment and staying positive. Like you though I was totally convinced it had spread EVERYWHERE! Before I had my scans etc I had chest pains and all sort of odd sensations which convinced me even more that this was the case. Once I had a treatment plan though all these pains went away and I was ok. It hadn't spread. Re the lymph nodes I have ones at the top of my neck that are quite prominent but I think this is normal. I have always had them and they are nothing to do with my cancer. I would be more worried I think if it was swollen on one side only. When we are worried about these things we all 'scan our bodies' and notice all sorts of odd sensations and feelings. Nearly always they are not to do with cancer. Really hope this is the case for you. Do come back on here and let us know how you get on on the 7th. I will be thinking of you. Xx ps Please stay away from google! It makes it SO much worse.

  • Hi Sunny-day,

Thanks for getting back to me and so glad you are getting the right treatment and staying so positive, you really are so kind to message back and reassure me!

Glad you thought the same about the neck lymph nodes as I have never checked them before until I found the lump

in my breast so maybe it is something I have always had, here's hoping anyway!

The back ache is a bit of a concern but like you say I am better waiting for the results, it's all such a worry!

But thank you again for your reply and I hope all your treatment goes well, you are a true inspiration!

Ill let you know how I get on on the 7th

    thanks again

  • Hi Brunetteworrier,

Just to say try to tell yourself that people have back ache and pains in their legs or leg for all sorts of different reasons. Very very few of these people will have this due to cancer. It is far more likely that your back and leg pain is being caused by something else less scary.

    Xx

  • Thank you for this sunny-day, trying to remain positive and push it to the back of my mind for the sake of the kids, I'll be glad when the appointment is over!

A week tomorrow so not too long to wait thank goodness xxx

  • Hi Brunette Worrier, just wondered how you got on today? I hope you are ok. xx

  • Hi sunny-day,

    How are you?

Thank you so much for thinking of me yesterday, I had my appt at the Breast Clinic and after the ultrasound the doctor said it was just a swollen milk gland and nothing sinster thank goodness!

    so relieved!

I hope you continue to get good treatment and remain positive

Your replies last week helped me remain calm and gave me reassurance so I want to thank you for that, with everything you are going through you still are going out your way to help people and can not thank you enough!

    Xxxx
