Endometrium biopsy

Went to Gp for prolonged  pv bleeding thinking it was probably hormonal. Had scan thickened and cystic endometrium.  Referred rapid access to hospital,  seen 3 days later and had GA hysteroscopy & biopsy just 4 days later. Now waiting 2 weeks for the results. It's been an emotional rollercoster as it's all happened so quickly. Being a nurse myself definately doesn't help but I'm  trying to stay positive.

  • Hi hollyt1234

I'm guessing by now that you've had your gynae appointment. How did you get on?

I've had mine today, been told it's a two week wait for results.

  • Hello, was just reading through this chat , how are you how did things work out for you ? I had a biopsy today wait is 2-3 weeks .

  • Hi welliybob,

Did you get your results through yet? I just had a biopsy of my womb done on Wednesday and have been told they are sending them off for urgent testing but could take 3-4 weeks. The gynaecologist said after doing the Hysteroscopy and biopsy that 'it doesn't look innocent'. She didn't say much else, even after I said oh I've left it took long, she literally said nothing. So obviously I'm thinking the worst and can't stop crying about it. Did your gynaecologist say anything to you after taking the biopsy?

    Take care x

  • Hi, I've just managed to sign in and reply to you, I would have replied straight away , but couldn't sign in and the site was down .

I got an appointment for next Tuesday , never had any discussion with the gynocologist after the procedure, it said on the report that my cervix and vulva are normal , then just said biopsy taken for thickened endometrium .

I got my text today for the appointment , but I am confused with that as I am also due a scan on ovarian cyst in December too .

Have you had your appointment through yet ?

I'm sendin you lots of love and hugs and positive vibes x

  • Hi, thanks for replying!

Oh that sounds like it's hopefully nothing to worry about then if they haven't told you to come in quickly to discuss the results. Fingers crossed! Do you mind me asking if your premenopausal?

Did they have a look in the womb with a camera at the same time as your biopsy?

No not heard anything back yet about my biopsy, just hope it hurry's up because the anxiety is too much!

Good luck for next Tuesday and also for your scan, let me know how you get on.

    Take care x

  • Hi, I'm 12 years postmenopausal, started bleeding in August and had a scan showed 22mm endometrial thickness and a cyst on right ovary , on the letter after my appointment it said they think it could be a polyp .

I originally declined the biopsy as was frightened, but then got sick of the bleeding every three days and they put me under GA , I have to say it was a doddle and the worse part was the canula going in a sharp scratch then I was coming round in recovery , They did look in my womb and I really think he removed a polyp as I was bleeding for 10 days then it stopped and nothing since ,so fingers crossed it was a polyp , he also said if my cyts shows no change he is discharging me as my CA125 was normal .

I don't know if that was very kind to say that to you , I think that has put you in fear and that is not the best thing as we are all scared right now with these issues.

Are you pre or postmenopausal ?

Thanks for the good wishes . x

  • Hi, I'm premenopausal, only 34. If I'm honest I've been ignoring my symptoms for probably 2 and half years, what with the pandemic happening and the GPs dismissing my concerns.
Yer I don't think the gynaecologist had the best bed side manner or maybe she knows what she saw and was trying to prepare me for the potential of bad news. I'm just hoping and praying she's wrong and it's nothing too serious.

Good luck again for next Tuesday, take care x

  • Hi Meg88, Have you had any results yet ?

Mine were not good endometrial cancer , waiting for a CT scan and go from there .

    sending love to you xx

  • Hi,

So sorry to hear that! I did see your post on Tuesday. Hopefully it's just a case of maybe a hysterectomy and that gets rid of it. Were you having any pain or was it just the bleeding that was the problem? Have they given you an appointment for the CT scan yet?

No I've still not had any results, tried calling the hospital a few times but no one seems to answer. I almost don't want to know now until after Christmas, especially if it's bad news.

Let me know how you get on with your scans. Sending big hugs! Take care of yourself and good luck with everything xxx

  • Hi , I've had pain because the ovarian cyst is painful, but where the biopsy was taken I had pain also , stopped bleeding after 11 days , then got the bad news and had a bleed, stopped again now , less pain on both areas.

I havent got the CT appointment yet , they cancelled the MRI beause of my anxiety I wouldn't cope with that under any circumstance and you need to be awake for it and its an hour long . I have  a wonderful support nurse who is so so lovely she is amazing , she dropped by my house Friday with a pack to help me with my anxiety 54321 method, I feel awful though I've sent her lots of email's and she phones me and she is so supportive .

With the CT scan I am also afraid because they want to use contrast dye and I am scared of anything like being in my system , I don't know what I will do on the appointment about the dye, people say they can see the images without the dye ,so i will have to ask them and beg them to do it without the dye best they can , its my body and I have a right to choose what I do . I am also petrified of the possibility of having a blood trnasfusion during hysterectomy , I just don't want a strangers blood its nothing personal and I know giving blood is so generous of people , but I don't know what they've done with their lives with their health , also I couldn't take the covid jab as my brother died from myocarditis when he was 31 not related to vaccines  but that is a side effect of the jabs for some people , my daughter in law sent me some information about how blood is screened and tested and it says that vaccines don't pass on through donors , but there is that fear there if you can understand where I am coming from with this .

I can understand how you feel about not wanting to know before Christmas , we just have to face this don't we, we need to get through it and out the other end and carry on with our lives , and to do that we have to go through the process until we are there with the sunshine at the end of the road .

Thank you for being here for me , we can do this , sending lots of love and hugs to you , take care also and thank you and good luck to you too xx
