I know this post was back in September but was wondering if anyone had advice as Iv had mixed answers. I was having pain in the top left hand side of my left breast it would go away and then come back at first but then it was more frequent. I'm a nurse but couldn't be seen by my GP so actually paid privately to see a breast consultant at my local private hospital two days before Christmas. She checked me over and said she new I was in pain but that she couldn't feel anything sinister and that she thought it might be muscular. She told me I'd be wasting my time and money  paying for a mammogram as she was sure it would come back clear. However Christmas and new year has passed and I received a letter from the NHS saying I was referred by this private consultant to her clinic in the NHS on the NHS for a Mammogram and possible tissue extraction is this common ???? Because now I'm worried sick that I haven't been told the truth that in fact I actually have something wrong with me. I tried to get a hold of her through the private hospital and through the nhs appointment line but have got no where has anyone experienced this before ??? I have another 2 weeks to wait and I'm already not sleeping and worrying
