Getting a diagnosis of throat/oral cancer

Hello,

I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction.

In November 2018, I started with a persistent sore throat and the feeling of having something stuck in my throat like a lump. I also had a few patches on the back of my throat. I went to the GP where they said it was a simple sore throat and it will go on it’s own, did a strep throat test which was negative and concluded that the patches were cobblestone throat and again would go on there own.

After 2 weeks, I returned to the GP with the same symptoms where they referred me to an ENT specialist. In Dec 18. He examined me and I had the camera up my nose and down my throat and he said I was suffering with stress and anxiety causing the globus sensation and silent reflux. Prescribed me with some lansoprazole to go away with which haven’t made any difference whatsoever. I noticed a small white patch on my left tonsil and also a small white/yellow patch on the side of my tongue (no bigger than a taste bud at the moment). I have visited the dentist also and mentioned these but get the same response of “it’s no concern”.

I am still suffering with the same symptoms, I have been back to my GP and have been told to have a fasting blood test in 2 weeks time. Has anyone had any other experiences of being diagnosed with everything before reaching the actual diagnosis and how long did it take? I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall when trying to explain how I feel and my symptoms.

I don’t know if it makes any difference but I did have high grade cells removed from my cervix in the summer of 2017 so now I don’t know if I am just putting 2 and 2 together

Sorry for my ramble lol

  • Hi

sounds like your description is of me.. I had mri and was told I had bulges in my cervical spine C6C7 and pinched nerve. With degeneration of the disc. However I've now developed a lump in the back of my throat, antibiotics didn't work. So waiting for endoscopy.. I'm sure it's all connected, so try not to stress. But make sure you find time to go Drs. Your health is more important than anything else. I should also mention I have fibromyalgia and osteopenia which don't help. Plus Gerd.
