Terrified!

Hi, I’m really scared right now.  I’m a 42 year old female.  About 9 months ago I had a dull right side pain in abdomen that felt like a stitch.  Doctor couldn’t feel anything.  I also had another pain upper right abdomen and had an ultrasound scan for gallstones.  All clear.  Nothing much happened for months except niggly pains, some night sweats and some digestive issues.  Now my abdomen feels tight I can feel several small lumps about pea size and the doctor felt them too.  They are painful.  Doctor gave me antibiotics and said they are fat lumps.  However my pains are getting worse, I have a fever on and off, night sweats and more lumps are just popping up in abdomen.  I am terrified right now.

  • Well I'm all over the place still.

still waiting for my ultrasound but now I have a million and one things going through my head 24/7

    so...

my liver function test was fine

    my iron test was fine

    my blood count was ok....

my red blood cells are enlarged - need another blood test to find out why

my CA125 levels are slightly too high at 39 but my cycle is all over the place so she wants to run another blood test in 2 weeks to see if they have come down whilst I'm waiting on ultrasound referral - fingers crossed-

so another blood test and still waiting for ultrasound here.
    no updates really :(

any news on when you get your results?

  • Bless you, sorry to hear you haven't had much luck with results. At least they're wanting to check things again and not just leave it like some doctors do. Have you still got the abdominal symptoms ? And the pain in your side when you press? This is what I have , I also have it bottom of back as I can feel raised Iymph nodes there. I don't get why all my lymph nodes are swelling up it's so scary. Also got niggles in my groin too and now I swear I can feel swollen nodes there too. I've also just put up another post as guess what......I've found a hard lump deep in my armpit and lumps in my breasts and woke up at 5am last night with awful sharp pain in breast and armpit. I am completely panicked now. Keep thinking what if I've had BC and left it and now it's in my lymph nodes all over my body. I absolutely hate anxiety. I don't know why I can't just think normally instead of always thinking the worst :(  Feeling so teary tonight. Doctor has referred me to a breast consultant. Luckily get seen quickly as I have private medical insurance with work. I've got my abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday to check my liver gallbladder and kidneys so i'm hoping they can check out the lumps/lymph nodes in my stomach at the same time. Feeling so scared. I hope you are ok hun x

  • Hi there ,

just wondering how you got on with checked ? I am having something similar at the moment and thinking all sorts.

  • So I had my USS and have been told that the lumps are multiple lipomas and I may have what's called dercum disease.

I have an appointment with my dr next week to discuss but based on my bloods and ultrasound they aren't worried at the moment.

I'll update properly once I have all my results back.

  • Do they talk to you whilst doing the scan ? I have mine tomorrow as found a lump just under ribs about 4/5 weeks ago and I'm sure I can feel little ones now. The original one feels long and like rock hard.

thanks for answering quickly and I'm so glad you found out what it is.

  • Hi, yes my ultrasound just showed fatty tissue and glandular tissue which feel like lumps but they're not. Also a small cyst in my breast and glandular tissue in armpit. So nothing to worry about at all! Hope you get some answers. Remember in most cases it is something completely harmless!!

  • Weirdly that's exactly how mine feel, the first was a longer harder one and then I found lots of little ones around the area and equally since my scan I have found them on the other side too that I hadn't noticed before.

I won't lie I have a fair bit of belly fat so it's not obvious for me to notice :laugh:

The sonographer was not a friendly person but she did talk me through what she could see and even checked my gallbladder for me as she thought it was possible that was causing the aching pain.

But in fairness after what seemed like forever waiting due to them putting scans on hold for a few weeks, and waiting 6 weeks in total and then getting lost a million times walking around a the hospital because of the covid signs (half of which were only in welsh and my welsh hasn't been used in over 15 years) I was just happy when she said she couldn't see anything too scary looking, after that I sort of half switched off...

I hope all goes well for you

  • I'm glad you had the best outcome . It's worrying all the waiting isn't it like you have said it's the worst part x

  • Thank you for replying . I'm keeping everything crossed mine is something similar . Have a number of issues at moment after having good health so can't help but think the worst x

  • Exactly the same here! Other than asthma I have never been 'sick' up until the last few months and I seem to have a million things going on. I'm now focusing on the positives and hoping that by improving my overall lifestyle things will help and it's just good old ageing.

let me know how you get on :) x
