2 week urgent Gynaecology referral

Hey

i was sent for an ultrasound and also had a vaginal ultrasound. The lady said she couldn’t see anything untoward at the time but I’ve now had a phone call to say im being given this appointment for “suspected cancer”

im absolutely terrified.

im 51, started going thorough menopause in 2016. I originally contacted the doctor as this year in October I had a random period .ive  a few periods during my going through menopause.  I’ve had no pains anywhere or not felt unwell but I’m positive now I’ve got cancer.

I’m driving myself crazy with worry.

any calming words appreciated

Thank you for reading xx

  • They told you the referral was made because of suspected cancer?

Don’t know if thats the usual procedure but I find it a little bit wild to put people minds at so much stress since the appointment.

Anyway, first of all stay away from Google since you will only find catastrophic answers that are not related with reality. Try to keep some calm, although I know in this moment you will find it very hard, and keep your mind busy with other stuff.

Whatever it is, your medical team is behind you and they are already working to help you.

    Best of luck  ;)

  • I am in the same situation as you. I went for CA125 blood tests twice and both came back positive now have been called for an urgent appointment with gynaecologist. I have failed to rest since then, have cried and can't cry no more as am sure I have ovarian cancer and am only 33.

Wish i could tell you the right words of encouragement but I do t have them. At the moment am praying to God that cancer hasn't spread too far. Just pray if you believe in anything.

  • Hi all I’m going the exact same :(

i am new on here & just looking for a little bit of advice..

i am 28 & been having my cervical smears since 2015

the first one that year came back as low grade changes I was sent to the coloscopy clinic were they took a sample of my cervix & then put me on yearly smear tests...

my 2016 swab came back with the same results & again had the biopsy & was told again to follow up in a year..

so 2017 I received again the same results & again had to attend the coloscopy clinic. But I then found out I was pregnant so obviously could not attend the biopsy appointment.

i gave birth to my little girl in June 2018 & since October time I have been bleeding between my period & also after intercourse... I have a lot of abdominal twinges & lower back pain on & off & also sharp pain now & then around the spleen area.... & my discharge has also been very watery but then can suddenly turn to pinky/red! The smell is rancid like dead rotting flesh!!?? Could any one have any more info on this?

On the 9th of November I past a large amount of blood clots... so I’ve been to my GB on numerous occasions been fobbed off with water infections & bacterial infections even tho all my swabs have came back negative!?

But today November 2018 I received my smear results which have came back as high grade severe dyskaryosis!

i am very worried in fact I’m making my self Ill to the point I haven’t gone to work & my eldest son as had to sleep at his fathers as I can’t let him see me in this state!

All my symptoms seem to be very matching with cervical cancer to start with & then receiving these results I’m in a right state!

Could I allready have the cancer? & I’ve also read symptoms like this don’t usually occur until the advanced stages which aren’t treatable!?

How can my tests go from low grade abnormal to severe high grade in the space of 1 year & 2 month?

In that length of time is it possible to develop cancer?

I would really appreciate some advice from people who are going through or who have allready been through this night mare..

i cant stop crying thinking the worst & thinking my kids might be with out a man my daughter is only 6 month I am deverstated by the results & symptoms I’m having..

just any advice would be great x

    Just an update

I had my gynae appointment yesterday and firstly she was horrified that I had been told I was referred for  “suspected gynaecological cancer”. She said the word cancer shouldn’t be used unless it’s actually been diagnosed.

Anyway she took a few samples from my womb which is a little unpleasant but not horrific, to be sent away . She said everything looked fine and to stop worrying! Results back in a few weeks but she said she wasn’t at all concerned with what she saw.

Thank you for the replies I’ve had so far and I will update when results are in

    xx

  • Hi Beatrice

Things were absolutely fine. The gynaecologist said everyone she’d seen that day were all good . Most cases it’s just a precautionary measure .

Good luck for tomorrow and let us know how you get on

  • Hi ladies. I can relate, but it's kind of like the other way round for me. I've been having flair ups since late last year on isolated occasions, where I've had chronic indiestion for a couple of days, and constipation that was hard to pass, sickness, tiredness and it then turned into diarreah at end of flair up. I then went back to normal, but my last flair up nearly 2 months ago was 4 days, the longest I've had and I was bedridden. I've been put forward for a colonoscopy originally, but the dr decided to check my overy too due to middle tummy pain in the flair up which changed to the right hand side. I was tested for CA125, and little did I actually know about this test. Next thing I knew, my dr was telling me my blood tests are okay but my CA125 was abnormal, and she's referring me now to get a pelvic scan done, but she's also referring me to my gynocologist. Is this normal to refer me to a gynocologist so early on? I have lichens scheloris, so I already have a gyncologist, so the dr had sent my gynocologist a letter. The whole thing is really worrying me, I've only had an upper abdominal scan so far as I had suspected gallstones, but that came back fine. I do get pains on my top right hand side, chest and pelvic sometimes, so I just find it so hard to pin it down to a specific area.

  • Hi I’ve been referred for a two week referral and really frightened. Don’t want to scare anyone else so I have no one to talk to. I had a bleed after seven years in menopause and they have sent me a letter saying they think I need to be checked for cancer. It has frightened the *** out of me

  • How were things for you. Hoping a good outcome

  • Hi.

Im in the same situation after a drs appointment last friday, for what i thought was some sort of infection. I had a smear in January which came back clear. But she took swabs and urine sample and requested i saw someone within 2 weeks as she saw what she thought was a cyst on my cervix. I had a call for an ultrasound within 2 hours of leaving the surgery and my appointment is today, i then have an examination appointment on friday and the lady on the phone mentioned cervical cancer.

    Im absolutely terrified

  • I had cervical cysts, dr said it was fine as cervical cysts are not cancerous. That's odd that you've been fast tracked. Are you having any other symptoms?
