Blood/mucus stool

Hi

For tge past 8 months ive had blood and mucus in stools, i went to the docs and they said IBS, tge symptoms persisted so i went back, they took blood tests which were all normal, a stool test which said i had high calproctin levels (1200) so gp said i had suspected IBD, i have a colonoscopy appt in 2 weeks. Obviously no one can diagnose other than the docs after colonoscopy but im freaking out and expecting the worst! Has anyone else had anything similar? I have absolutely so other symptoms just mucus at rhe top of stool (first bit to come out) then blood on the outside sometimes quite a bit sometimes barely any and thats it but it has been every stool apart from maybe 5 in total for the last 8 months! Maybe a slight niggle in left lower side of stomach occasionally right but nothing major at all.

No family history, no weight loss, no tiredness, bowel habbits normal, no pain, no other symptoms, just an increase in anxiety!

Thanks for reading

  • Hi , I am 35 and have mucus with blood for 8 months along with bloating stomach constantly rumbling and gurgling I always have an urgency for the toilet in the morning.  I'm so scared and worried it's something serious.  I couldn't get an hospital appointment until recently because of the pandemic they took bloods and a sample over a week ago and I'm just waiting in panic. Its actually been destroying me with anxiety for months thinking the worst constantly googling things.

  • Hi I'm 37 my anxiety was through the roof, I had a colonoscopy last week I have some kind on colitis they've took samples to find out which type and I should know soon. Colitis is commonly diagnosed in mid 30s my symptoms are the same as yours try to think positive

  • HI I have the same symptoms a small ache below the right ribs. CT on Wednesday, once I have the results I will let you guys know

  • Hi, I was also supposed to have a colonoscopy due to the symptoms from December but it also got cancelled due to COVID but now it's rescheduled to the 14th of sep. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice and my symptoms are mentioned below.

They think I have small bowel Crohn's

it all started off in December my first symptom out of nowhere I was experiencing severe diarrhea and at first I ignored it because I was too embarrassed to talk to anyone about what I went through especially when I have been going to the toilet constantly. When I ignored my symptom I started getting really bad abdominal pain and then I also realised I had blood on my stool also mucus which also had blood but then I still carried on ignoring it and I just kept it to myself because it felt too personal to me to talk about it to a doctor I just felt too embarrassed. I then thought maybe it would stop but then my diarrhea was just constant I had it from December all the way to January and then it was going on all the way till march and April. Another symptom I went through and I hated the most was loss of appetite every time I used to eat food an hour or two I had really bad abdominal pains and I couldn't handle the pain and I kept feeling sick after eating and half of the time I just felt really bloated so I decided to avoid eating half of the time because anything I really ate gave me pain and I was scared of experiencing that pain and eventually I started to eat less to avoid my symptoms which made me lose a lot of weight. I constantly use to scream at my mum because she forced me to eat I ended up getting really bad stomach pains and it just put me off eating, however there were times I was able to eat but constant periods I had really bad abdominal pains which frightened me to continue to eat anything.  I also have been experiencing constant fever I kept having high temperature and feeling tired and dizzy and I just felt isolated and upset. When I had my fever i felt so cold despite having a hot water bottle, a duvet on top of me and a fluffy blanket and I couldn't speak to my mum because I felt like she wouldn't understand and I also didn't understand what's going on with me.  My fever then ended up coming back in June and it was horrible

  • Hi Cupcakes, I have had similar symptoms as you with the exception of fever. I was referred for a colonoscopy which will be done on the 16th sept symptoms started in April.

My GP quickly tried to brush this under the IBS heading,

but my symptoms persisted and got significantly worse.

In June I started to loose hair and my finger nails went opaque (to date 5 have fallen off! With the remaining 5 likely to come off too) I had a blood test which showed anemia and B12 deficiency. the medication I was given hasn't really helped.

I still pass loose stools with significant amounts of bloody mucus.

Hopefully I will have some answers on Wednesday.

  • Hi all.

I have had very similar symptoms to alot of you. Mostly mucus in stool, periods where my bowels feel full. I think I saw blood once but unsure. I've got blood tests and a stool sample to do and I'm just looking for some piece of mind really.

Have any of you resolved this?

Those that have said they have proctitis, what was the cause?

    Thankyou for any responses

  • Hi, I have exactly the same symptoms as you. I'm 26 and sooo scared. Did you ever receive a diagnosis?
