Breast lump and armpit lump- terrified! Please help!

I have 2 lumps in my breast. I got one biopsied and that was fibroadenoma. I didn’t get the other one biopsied. The other one is located the the bottom part of my breast. A week ago I noticed a lump in my armpit on that same side. It’s oval shaped, and it moves pretty easily, and doesn’t hurt. I was freaking out. A week goes by and now I feel multiple tiny lumps under my armpit. I’m terrified that these are my lymph nodes. I’m not sick, I don’t have an infection, so I’m terrified. Everything I see online leads to breast cancer. I’m only 19 years old but everything I see and hear about when it involves a breast lump and swollen lymph nodes is bad news. I haven’t heard any hopeful good news and I can’t stop crying. I have an appointment to see my breast surgeon on Tuesday.

  • Thsnk you. Lol to pass time tomo

    your so very right xxxx

  • Hi Jolamine,

A little update. I went o the GP today, ive been diagnosed with Severe Health Related Anxiety & PTSD following complications with Cervical cancer treatment. The doctor has increased my Sertraline dosage & gave me another med for when I feel panicked to help with chest pain etc. The lump under my arm is a swollen lymph node but she said its due to me having a cold.

She has agreed to a yearly breast screen (Im 36 so wouldnt usually get), I've been referred for physio. Im stsrting psychology next week.

I still have this feeling that something isnt right but I think its because im constantly in pain. I just keep thinking 'what if theyve missed something'. They still wont give me a CT scan because I had an ultrasound in November.

My priority is trying to keep a positive mind & tell myself that im fine as much as possible. Fingers crossed I can take control of my current situation

    Hi Jjrj,

Many thanks for the update on your visit to your GP today. How are you feeling about this? It is only natural for you to worry about your breast when you have had cervical cancer so recently. It sounds as if your GP has listened to you and I am glad to hear that she has increased your Sertraline and given you another medication for when you feel particularly anxious.

She has obviously examined you and come to the conclusion that your swollen lymph node is due to your cold. The fact that she has agreed to get you an annual breast screen should be reassuring too. You know your own body best, so if you notice any further changes, don't be afraid to revisit your GP. Some of us have had a fight on our hands to get the correct diagnosis and, have really had to stick to our guns.

It is always difficult to keep positive about this, but you will feel a lot happier if you can. I sincerely hope that your psychology appointments next week will help you through this.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi I have a very large lump in my breast it's been all over 4 weeks now and my appointment is the 23rd of January I'm worried sick as it's getting bigger also my left shoulder is swollen the same side as the lump I haven't been seen at all yet I try to be positive but it's on my mind all the time I'm I'm driving my partner mad and I am constantly googling. Has anyone experienced the same situation

    Hi Dawn,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. Are you waiting to see your GP or for a referral to the breast clinic. I agree that this is a terrifying time, but you'll soon know one way or the other. Try to stay away from Dr Google, as much of the information is out of date, poorly researched or aimed at the spectacular and this will scare you even further.

I agree that it is difficult to be positive at this stage, but continue to try, as it makes all the difference to how you cope with this. I think that all of us who have been diagnosed with breast cancer have experienced what you are going through. This is one of the worse stages of your cancer journey because there are so many unknowns. If it's of any consolation, it will get easier once you know exactly what you are dealing with.

If it is getting bigger, it might be worth contacting your GP for an urgent appointment - if you explain the reason that you want to see the doctor to  the receptionist, she will fit you in as soon as possible. You don't say what age you are, but this might be an infection, which might benefit from antibiotics.

I hope that you get seen soon and that there may be a simpler reason for your symptoms.

Please keep in touch and let us know how  you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello there, I came across this post as it sounds similar to my symptoms! Am going to get checked at doctors but I have a few lumps at the bottom of my right breast which I'm pretty sure have grown in the last 6 months - did you have any pain with yours at all? And did you notice them growing at all? This forum is very good for putting my mind at rest! Hope to hear back from you, thank you x

  • Hi Laurenevie,

Sorry to hear you're going through this worry - my mind was in overdrive when it happened to me and it affected my sleep etc. The best thing is to go to your GP asap, especially to minimise your time panicking. Mine grew slightly in a few weeks, didn't hurt except for my endless prodding and turned out to be a harmless cyst probably caused by changing contraceptive pill. I really didnt feel like it was a cyst from reading thousands of forums online but, turns out, I made a terrible specialist!! I drove myself crazy reading half the internet while I waited - try to not do that and just keep as busy as possible until your appointment. When is it? Keep us posted on how it goes. This community is amazing - someone here told me not to worry about things until there's something to worry about - that's now my mantra!

    Take care xxx

  • Hi Ladies, I am so glad i found your discussion.

I have been having pain under my left armpit ever since my ovulation which was 10 days ago. Its been bothering me a lot because i feel the pain at all times and i can't stop thinking about it. I have been examining my breats on daily basis and yesterda i felt a lump under my nipple. I was shocked and went to an emergency GP straight away. He examined me and he was able to touch the lump too which was even more teriffying. He said he was going to sent a note to my gp for an emertgency scan. I wanted to cry. I am waiting for a call from my GP but meanwhile i booked a private scan for today because i will get crazy if i have to wait for one more day. I couldnt sleep well last night, i was hoping the pain was not going to be there but i woke up and felt it again. I had nightmares as well.

I was hoping the pain was going to disappear on its own as usual  because some months i got sensitive breats after oulation or right before my periods. Its probably worh mentining that i am on thyroxine plus i went through a fertility treatment in November last year. Not sure if thats the reason since it happened 3 months ago. I have been under lots of stress and i have been looking forward to my embryo transfer in Feb but having to deal with another issue is way too much. I really can't take it anymore. I feel like i am going to lose it. Can you pray for me please?

    Hi Jully,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. You are doing the best thing in getting your breast scanned and, I hope that it all goes well today.

Waiting for results is always an anxious time. It is unusual to get pain with cancer, so here's hoping that this is something less serious.

Please let us know how you get on today. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
