Hi Ro, I'm sorry to hear you're still in pain after your surgery. I was able to walk unaided about three weeks after, and it took a good month for the pain to go back down to what I consider "normal" levels (I'm 45, something always hurts lol) It does still twinge a bit from time to time, and I still can't feel a large area of skin around the scar. The scar itself has healed really nicely.

be patient with yourself, and take it slowly. I tried to do too much too soon after my surgery and fell over. I re hurt my wound and smashed my phone. 
Please let me know when you get your biopsy results. I'll be hoping for a myxoma for you too!

Thanks from your prompt reply;) The surgeon told me I'd be back to normal life in 2 weeks so I thought by now (4weeks after surgery)I could go back to cycling/long walks but I don't feel ready as I am still feeling pain and can't bend my knee properly;(

Yeah they told me that too, I felt it was a little optimistic

Just take it at your own pace and try to keep moving it as much as you can. With mine being my calf muscle, it was flexing my ankle rather than my knee that I had to work on. Just a little more every day until I could hold my own weight and walk without the crutches.

I found this thread when I was googling for information about recovery times after having an intramuscular myxoma removed. Hope you're both now fully recovered and if you see this I'd be ever so grateful if I could pretty please pick your brains about the recovery time after surgery.

A few weeks ago I found a lump in my right thigh, just a little over halfway up from my knee at the front. Didn’t panic, although I phoned my GP surgery the next day. GP phoned me a few hours later and asked me to pop in on my way home from work. Examined the lump, said it was most likely a harmless lipoma but would refer me for an ultrasound to put everyone’s mind at rest. 

Had the ultrasound the following week. Appeared most likely benign, but referred for MRI with contrast for a more definitive answer. Had that two weeks later, got the results two days later. It’s 99.9% certain to be a very rare (as in one-in-a-million) benign intramuscular myxoma (which will be sent for lab analysis once it’s out).

Saw a surgeon last week (who also got it reviewed by the region's top expert, apparently!) and my squatter will be getting evicted in around six weeks (just waiting for a date). Am nervous as I’ve never had surgery or even a blood test before, but considering the alternative outcome I'll gladly suck it up. I've been promised chill pills and plenty of EMLA cream as having a cannula put in for the contrast MRI was not enjoyable (am badly needle phobic, although I can now cope with vaccinations).

Like you both, the surgeon said I'd be pretty much back to normal in a fortnight and could go back to work (secondary school teacher). I thought this sounded rather quick, but he knows much more than me! He also said I probably won't need crutches or prescription painkillers. Don't really want either of them, although am willing to have them if I need them. I'm just concerned that I'll either feel obliged to go back to work too soon (my HT is a really decent bloke, so there won't be any pressure from anyone other than myself) or be hobbling around in pain/discomfort for ages. 

Anyway, that's more than waffle enough from me! Thanks in hopeful anticipation of any nuggets of wisdom and experience you can share in addition to those above... xx

Hi Nikki, I had a large cancerous lump removed from my calf about 2 weeks ago , the surgery included removing part of the mausoleum and part of my Achilles. In total how long did it take for you to be able to walk again unaided? I still can't put any weight on my leg and it's I've got a blood clot in void that was left.
