    Hi Scared-girl,

    Welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear that you too are at this scary stage. Fortunately, only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will turn out to have cancer. It is a positive that your lump is regular in shape, so let's hope that you are one of the lucky people.

Have you got your appointment through yet? They usually come through within 2 weeks of referral. Try not to Google things at present, because you don't even know whether or not there is anything untoward there and, if there is, what type and grade of cancer it might be. If you start Googling you will only scare yourself further by convincing yourself that you are a worst case scenario. We nearly all do this, but again fortunately, this seldom turns out to be the case.

Try to occupy your mind by keeping busy until your consultation. This will help the time to pass a little quicker.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you. I only saw the go today so will hopefully hear in the next day or two when my appointment is. X

  • Have been given an appointment for 17th September. Seems like forever to wait. I have googled everything which is of course the worst thing you can do!

    Hi Scared-girl,

I am glad to hear that you have now got your appointment. Time really does drag while you are waiting, which is why I told you to try and keep busy in the meantime.

The trouble with Googling at this stage is, that you don't even know whether or not there is any cancer present and, you certainly don't know what type or grade you have if there is any cancer present. As a result, you are reading articles which present some of the more spectacular cases and, convincing yourself of the worst. Try to steer clear of Dr Google if you can, as it's just a waste of time at the moment.

Can you bring someone with you to your appointment? It is also a good idea to write down a list of questions before each appointment, as it is all too easy to forget something important in the heat of the moment. You are likely to have some tests on the day, so may have to wait 1-2 weeks before you get  any diagnosis.

Here' hoping that nothing untoward is found and all goes well. Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • hi am so worried I was in the shower and getting washed and have noticed to lumps in each of my Boobs can any one tell me if there had this before

  • hi, I had my appointment yesterday, and luckily my lumps is a cyst. I was terrified thinking it was something else. You need to see the GP to get it checked out but if there are lumps in both breast they could be cysts. Only a proper medical person can tell you. I was talking to all the women in the clinic yesterday there was a really commardery between everyone and out of all the women I spoke to most were diagnosed with a cyst. Please go and see your GO as they can ensure you get the right checks completed x

    Hi,

I am so glad to hear that your lump is just a cyst. Are there any plans to check it out regularly or does your consultant just plan to leave it alone?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Littledebz,

I have had lumps in both boobs. The first was cancerous, the second in the other breast was benign and the third a year later in the original breast, was again cancerous. You can never tell whether or not there is anything untoward until they have been tested, so please make an appointment with your GP as soon as you can.

If she/he feels that there is anything suspicious, they will refer you to the breast clinic.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi,

I have been having pains and what felt like a lump in my right arm pit for a few weeks now but not really thought anything of it until this evening where i have found a tender to touch golf ball size lump in my breast, obviously i am absolutely petrified as the lump seems to have just appeared. I can visibly see the lump as it makes my breast distorted. I shall be phoning the gp in the morning for an emergency appointment however if I can't get in tomorrow do you think its ok to go to a walk in centre as i will be panicking about this now until i know what it is.

    thank you in advance xx
