Symptoms of bladder cancer in women

i have been to the doctors 4 times in as many weeks with blood in my urine. The doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics which didn't work so prescribed another which also didn't work. Results from the urine samples stated no infection in any of the samples so took the antibiotics unnecessarily. So the doc sent me to radiology to see whether I had kidney stones. The result were I didn't have kidney stones either. Week 4 all samples of urine have blood in them no infection and no kidney stones. Now bladder cancer has been mentioned and I'm back at hospital next week for further tests. Has anyone out there had similar or knows someone with similar results. Any feed back would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi sorry but I keep having no infection blood in urine and white blood cells found! I've been suffering severely now with lower back pain hip pain and abdominal and kidney pain constantly for months I sent another sample off last week they said same but no infection now my doctor is asking me to come in to discuss results should I be worried because I am this blood in urine had been going on for nearly a year now I have utiwsymptoms constantly but no infection thank you c

  • Hi hope you are feeling better.

I am just wondering did you find out what was wrong? Just anxious abs my symptoms.

    Kind regards

  • Hi

I've come across your comment and I'm in exactly the same boat! Microscopic hematuria, cloudy and frequent urination,  low abdominal pain and kidney discomfort on both sides for months! Bloods and urine always show no infection or protein. My eGFR is 69 and blood creatinine slightly raised. I've convinced myself I have BC and I'm so worried. I was referred to urology 2 weeks ago but no appointment yet. I had a cytoscopy 4 years ago as I suffer with recurrent UTIs and always seem to have blood in my urine - all was fine then but that was a long time ago.

Just wondered if you got to the bottom of it?

    Thanks

  • Hi Everyone,

As some of you have said googling is the worst thong to do but its a natural reaction when you just want to find out whats going on.

I've had blood in my urine for almost 9 months sometimes i can see it some times not. Had a cytology analysis done in Feb and it came back showing abnormal cell clusters. referred for ultrasound which i had yesterday. Nurse said she could see no kidney stones or cause for bleeding. I am now waiting on a cystoscopy appointment. I did feel some relief yeaterday as nothing seemed wrong with Ultrasound but still concerned that this is something more. Any feedback woulld be truly welcome.

    Thanks xxx

  • Try not to worry, although I know how hard that is to do.. I've had blood in my urine for two years now and  nothing has been found. Some people just do apparently. Hopefully that is the case for you x

  • Thank you Glowbug,

It really is the not knowing thats the hardest. Must be very hard for you not getting to the bottom of it.

    xx

  • Yes, not knowing is the hardest part, especially when you're waiting for tests and results and it feels like you are waiting forever. Its actually been 2 and a half years now since blood was first diagnosed in my urine, I have accepted that there is nothing wrong and its just one of those things. I've been told this by 3 GPS, a urologist and the doctor that cystoscopy. I don't have any other symptoms, and I guess after two and a half years if there was something wrong I would know about it or at very least be showing other symptoms. Do try to not Google, I know how hard it is and I couldn't help but get on Google but it was the worst thing I did I had 3 months of absolutely hell because of the fear it put in me, but here I am all this time later with no other problems  x

  • Hi everyone,
I've come across your comments and I'm in exactly the same boat too.
My symptoms are: Low pelvis pain (left side) and pain in my lower back (left side), I have pain and difficulty walking, the pain runs until my leg. I can't stand because my lower back hurts, and it also gives me stabbing cramps, I can't sit either because my pelvis hurts ...

One month ago I urinated a big quantity of blood, the pain was unbearable, I was hours sitting in my toilet without moving, every 5 or 10 seconds I was urinating just blood.
Antibiotics were prescribed, but after one week was needed a second and stronger antibiotic, since I continued with infection.
Tests of Blood and urine showed no protein. Scan showed ok according to the person that only took measures BUT without exploration.
I asked my GP for a referral, but despite my petition it was not done.
Yesterday my GP called me, since the scan report says it is ok, so now my GP will do a referral for an urologist. I hope it arrives soon... every minute counts

My bladder and kidneys have been suffering for 3 years due to my fibroids pushing the bladder, so my bladder was similar to the wide size of a paper. I was suffering a lot, to not mention infections and the lack of quality in my life, my belly was as a pregnant woman and urinating on my clothes all the time. Unfortunately nobody performed my surgery in these 3 years, delays in my appointments, referrals were canceled and many excuses, so the catastrophe arrived when I suffered a 'metrorragia' and an emergency surgery was done.

Due to this abandonment I lost my uterus, and hysterectomy was done.
I must say that I had only 5 fibroids in 2016 (2of them x4 cm and 3of them x less than 2cm), however it became 12 fibroids (x10cm). My menstruation lasted 15 days every month. I felt weak and impotent.
My bladder and kidneys were suffering a lot during these 3 years.

Now I'm asking for an urologist to have a cystoscopy.
I have urinated just blood, so I'm so worried.

    12.04. 2021
I  want to inform you that my Cystoscopy has already been done, apparently seen with the camera (Cystoscopy) my bladder does not show visible tumors.
The CT scan showed no stones.
My urine has not been analyzed to see if I have traces of blood nor has a biopsy been performed to see if there are cancer cells, I asked for these tests but the doctor thinks it is not needed.
The doctor thinks that I had a beastly infection, but on the other hand he also says that there was too much blood.

For my part, I think that this horrible experience that I lived and that I sat in the toilet without being able to move, expelling this blood as if it were a childbirth, I have to say that it does not coincide with what I already know as an urine's infection, but I hope it is this case.

  • Hello everyone, I`ve been fighting the problem of an invisble bleeding bladder for the past three years. This after delivering 500mls of Claret in two sessions. I saw my GP and to be fair they did their due diligence and sent the considerable sample off to the hospital. When I eventually attended the clinic I was told that no sample had been examined there (in other words they had `lost` it and was subjected to an extremely uncomfortable cystoscopy while on the day stay ward. I had already had an ultrasound scan which was inconclusive. Similarly I had also been prescribed ineffective antibiotics....and this is still going on as is the `go to` medication. I am always losing/oozing something from the bladder and have to make sure my fluid intake is more than adequate otherwise I can`t urinate at all which is no fun. The trouble is that the Consultant under whose remit I fall is arrogant and rude. I cannot accept someone who likes to exhibit that conduct can be trusted clinically.

Am bleeding today and wish I could throw something positive into the dialogue but so far I have no confidence in the clinical process. A more humane and holistic view might be helpful though.
