  • Hi Bdav66,

You did the right thing in going to see the GP after you noticed this swelling on your left breast. Having a family history of breast cancer must have made you very worried and it's good that the GP examined you thoroughly and has referred you to the breast clinic. Try not to worry too much though as being referred to the breast clinic really doesn't mean that cancer will be found. There are countless number of other conditions that may cause these issues.

Breast Cancer Now has information on what to expect at your breast clinic appointment which I hope you will find helpful. It won't be long now until the 15th of September and I hope that you will get some answers soon. Make sure you mention that you have been really tired lately as well as itchy around your breast and that you have experienced night sweats.

Waiting for results is not easy and it can be an anxious time for you when your mind goes into overdrive and you end up fearing or anticipating the worst. It can be tempting to look things up online but this will never give you reliable answers and you will only get a clear picture once you have been seen at the breast clinic. While you are waiting, have a look at these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that you get some definite answers soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. Other members of our community will have been through this anxious process of waiting to be seen at the breast clinic and they will be able to tell you what to expect from their personal experience.
