CA 125 level of 75 - mum is assuming she has cancer

My mum has had her CA 125 results today of 75 and she's automatically assuming its cancer.

My mum has suffered from intermittent bouts of IBS for a couple of years. She has a heavy feeling in her pelvic area too.

amongst other things she also has a yeast infection which the doctor has told her it has grown internally,  she's had this yeast infection for approx 3 years (yes 3 years) and has never quite managed to clear it up. Could this be the cause of her symptoms and raised CA 125 levels

  • Welcome to the forum Princess_RS, although I'm sorry to hear about your mum's symptoms and that she believes she may have cancer due to her CA125 results.

I hope you can reassure her that a raised CA125 reading doesn't necessarily mean it's cancer as it can be indicator of many other benign conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease.

We have a lot of members who have had high CA125 results as well so they will definitely understand what you and your mum are going through at the moment and hopefully some of them will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

If either of you would like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to answer your questions.

    Kind regards,
