Endometrial Cancer

  1. Hello , I am 64 . Yesterday I had a transvaginal scan as I have been having post menopausal bleeding . This morning I had a call from my GP telling me they were referring me to gynaecology on the 2 week pathway as the scan revealed thickening of the endometrium . I need to now have a hysteroscopy . She said it was an urgent cancer referral . I wasn't expecting the results so quickly . I have had a good cry , pulled up my big girls pants and am bracing myself .
  2. Simultaneously I have been having dreadful pain that is radiating from my right hip , down through my leg . I have had an xray and im awaiting the results.  I've had an appt with the physio,  she is of the opinion that the two things aren't connected but I'm not so sure . Has anyone had any leg pain with a diagnosis of endometrial cancer .
  3. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences . I hope all are well
  • Hi, I understand how you are feeling, I am awaiting hysteroscopy on Monday under General as I am 60 and have had a couple of pink discharge and slight cramping to left side. I have often wondered if over the years urine infections and blood in urine has actually been the onset of this if turns out to be C. Its scarey. I havent had pain in the legs but if we start putting every ailment or pain and ache it would always come up as C in google search. My womb thickness is 14MM. Have you had a date for your hysteroscopy? what did your xray say? i had ultraound which showed my womb lining 14mm.  Waiting and wondering is awful x

  • Hello  thankyou for your reply.Im trying not to overthink it . Like you say google is not a friend sometimes lol .

I have a hysteroscopy appointment this coming Monday , fairly quick . I'm dreading it tbh .

I haven't had the results of my hip xray back .

Hope your hysteroscopy goes ok . I have just been told to take paracetamol so fingers crossed .Despite having 3 children with no epidural back in the day it doesn't get any easier

My ultrasound results were 5.3mm and some fluid

I bled quite heavily during and after which was a bit of a shock ..

Good luck , hope it all turns out OK for both of us .

Let me know how you get on . Take care .

  • Hi Thanks for your reply. I have my hysteroscopy Monday 17th as well. sending luck and wishes for both of us. xxxx

  • Hello Lola , I hope all went well yesterday. You were right to opt for the GA .It was very traumatic and painful . I wouldn't have another without anaesthetic.

I'm ok,  the uterus is looking healthy  . . She took a biopsy but she's not expecting anything to come from that .

I do hope yours went ok .All the best to you .x

  • Hi. Glad your ok and all good!! I am same .Everything went well.i had a 5mm polyp so it was removed and no suspicious findings. No C thank goodness. We can move on now and we will wonder how we got through this. Thanks for asking about me. Take care hunni x

  • Oh that's a relief , yes we have been lucky . Enjoy the summer , so glad all is well . Take care x

  • Hi. Just been reading your messages and  . Just been to see GP today as noticed slight discoloured discharge a few times and feel a bit crampy occasionally (although I suffer with IBS so easy to confuse the two! I’m 59 and went through menopause a few years ago so this has really got me worried. GP has referred me to gynaecologist for scan as they need to treat any post menopausal bleed with caution. She said I’ll get appt within 2 weeks. I’ve got myself so worked up, googling things like womb and ovarian cancer… Both your posts seem really positive and I’m trying to take some comfort hoping mine will be okay!

  • Hi Alexis

how are you? I hope you have an appointment now? I am like you - went to Drs yesterday (after months of bleeding and bloating) and she has referred me straight to hospital me says will get appointment within. 2 weeks. I spent hours yesterday googling - which doesn’t help! I like you find comfort in the posts above - it doesn’t all have to be C there are other issues it could be.

Let me know how you get on

    Tina x

  • Hi Tina

Thanks for your message. I was contacted by the hospital this morning and have an appointment for a hysteroscopy on 24th April. They acknowledged it was outside of 2 week timeframe and said if they ad a cancellation they’d contact me. Would rather get it done sooner rather than later as on holiday week commencing 21st April so it has cast a bit of a cloud over the week . Just hope they don’t find anything untoward .
Keep me posted about your progress, hope you get an appointment soon

    Alexis x

  • Hi Alexis

i have just been given my appointment and it is also on 24th April and I too am on holiday that week. I am travelling to a hospital over an hour away as my closest one was a 4 week wait.
I am having internal ultrasound and biopsy. I am unsure why some people have ultrasounds and others hysteroscopy?

I am trying not to worry but finding it hard to not think about it and be annoyed with myself for leaving symptoms for so long. I  am 57 been on HRT for 5 years. Anyway will just have to wait and hope all is OK.
I hope you are doing OK and that you will manage to enjoy some holiday time.

    Tina xx
