Painful right breast

Hello,

So I have very bad pain in my right breast.   It's in the same spot, but I'm not sure if there is a lump or not as it's too painful to press down on and I'm near to tears when I press it.

Twice in the last week my nipple has been itchy, but then gone away.

I saw the Dr a month ago and was told to only come back if it stopped me doing anything.   Now if I cuddle my daughter and she knocks it,  it's agony.

When I search  for breast cancer,  it says its unusual to get pain.

18 months ago  they found a tumour in the other breast that was borderline,  but in the end,  decided it was benign.

I'm worried and not sure what to do next.

  • Get an appointment with GP asap....tell receptionist it's for checking for breast cancer otherwise you'll be waiting maybe weeks for an appointment!   I was not overly concerned my left breast nipple inverted in ever so slightly at odd times, but something told me to get It checked. It all looked fine when I went to GP next day, but she was great...put me on the 2 week max list to be checked at hospital. Ask for that referral if your GP not forthcoming . Within 2 weeks I was at hospital. Saw a consultant first who couldn't feel or see anything either! But, they give you both a mammogram and an ultrasound. They showed there was cancer and they took a biopsy straight away that day. That was all on 26 July '23. Diagnosed with stage 2 lobular cancer ( not a lump but feathery). Found I was HER2 +, so that meant I had chemo with herceptin first ( 6 rounds)finished Jan '24, then mastectomy on 2 Feb and now radiotherapy I'm just finishing 15 rounds. I've got to have a different chemo as last one didn't kill off every bit of live cancer, although hopefully all been removed with mastectomy. It's all the waiting in-between treatments and test results that gets to me. I've accepted all the treatments. Everyone has a different cancer journey, even if it's a similar cancer. It's a weird feeling thinking you're a cancer patient. I lost my hair with chemo but that's never bothered me, maybe cos I'm older. I just want to get through it all. Stay strong and I'd urge you to not delay...get to your GP asap for referral. I'm glad I did. Yours may be nothing, but it will settle your mind to be checked. Let us know on here how you're doing. All the very best to you.xx

My thoughts are with you,  you have been and are going through so very much.

I am going to make an appointment tomorrow when the drs are open.

I hope they listen to me this time, but with your encouragement,  I'm not going to let them give me another "watch and wait" approach.

Thank you again and all the best to you on your journey ️

  • I know it's hard but insist. That much pain needs treatment whatever it is. Let us know what doctor says.

  • Hello,

Just to update you,  the Dr has referred me to the breast clinic under the 2ww so hopefully I will get answers.

She also found a tiny lump and said breast looked a bit pink,  but was hopeful that the clinic could help me.

Thank you all for responding to me on the first instance xx

  • That's great news you got the referral. Let us know how you get on at hospital.xx
