Breast burning/tingling

Hi. I did want to upload a picture so you could see.
But in my left breast i am feeling a burning/tingling feeling, it also feels like areola (i think thats what its called) has gone lighter and is really sensitive to the other (keeps going hard) and seems to be a little flatter than the other one, also the burning feeling feels like its in my armpit now also!

i have a referal made but this 2 week wait is scaring the life out of me, my anxiety is at its max to the point i cant eat  :(

ive had loads of bloods done and all come back ok, but i no bloods doesnt pick up cancer. I had an inflammatory blood test which came back as normal.

i am so so scared.

  • Hi, I have very similar and I’m worried sick. Like you, my left breast feels very sensitive with burning sensation also in armpit, some days even spraying deodorant seems to hurt. I have seen the doctor and she found a lump but I can’t see or feel this myself.  This was found during my ovulation week so Im just praying it’s something hormonal. I’ve also had bloods done that have all come back normal including inflammatory. I have appointment on Thursday to be checked, 2 days before I go on my honeymoon. I’ve spent the last week googling everyday and I am so so down.

I really hope all is ok for you so you can enjoy your honey moon, please keep us update xx

    Hi,

We are only told that we will get our appointment within 2 weeks, but are often not seen till a week or two after that. I wouldn't bother about going private, unless you can afford to have private treatment if anything is found, as you would still have a wait to get back into the NHS system again and would probably have to start from the beginning again. When your appointment comes through, you could phone your consultant's secretary and offer to take any cancellations that come up. This can sometimes get you an earlier appointment.

I can fully understand your concern for your children, but here's hoping that nothing untoward is found.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Cmck11,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you are in this unenviable situation too. You have done the right thing by getting this investigated. Who is your appointment with on Thursday - Your GP or the breast clinic? This is always a worrying time and I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Please read the  replies I have sent to N92 and AWin179, as it sounds as if you are all in a similar situation.

Here's hoping that you can put this behind you before you go away and that it won't overshadow your honeymoon - I hope that you have a fabulous time.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine, thank you so much for your message. My appointment is with the breast clinic, my worry is that I still may have to wait for results for another 10 days - 2 weeks but I hope I have some sort of clarity on the day. I have read through your replies, my doctor has indeed mentioned Costochondritis as my initial doctors visit was for chest pain which I still have. Xx

Thanks so much for your reply N92. I feel exactly the same. Do you have an appointment booked? I booked mine through NHS app and you can keep checking as you may be lucky and find an earlier appointment if someone is to cancel. Can I ask how long you’ve had the symptoms? And your age? I’m 34 and have not had anything like this before apart from the usual breast pain in both a week or so before my period but this feels different, It feels like I’m holding a clutch bag under my armpit today, but to look at everything looks perfectly normal, it’s all very strange xx

Im 32. Yes i feel the same, its hard feeling to describe isnt it. Burning, achy feeling. My areola seems to of gone a little different though and u can see a few veins and a little itchy.  I am fearing the worse tbh. I have my referal sent from my GP on the 6th November i call every day but they have said maybe the 25th november as theres a back log. Then if they need biopsys thats going to take ages to. Just scary how long it all takes. I had a scare last year but it wasnt this feeling i have now it feels completely different. :(

  • N92, I am really sorry you are going through this and the waiting and not knowing is the worse . I do agree with Jolamine about it maybe being an infection of some sort because of the heat and burning sensation , Try again with your GP and stress how you are concerned that it is some infection ! Xxx

  • They have gave me antibiotics but it doesnt seem to be working. I have just booked in for a private scan for tomorrow. I cant cope with the wait its making me so ill

Yes it’s awful. I have thought of nothing else. Nipple is very sensitive but I don’t have a change in colour. All other symptoms very similar to yours. I hope you get on ok with the scan tomorrow x
