Ovarian Cancer symptoms!

Hi everyone!

I am a 30 year old woman who has been experiencing the below symptoms for the past 5 months:

Fatigue, persistent bloating, pelvic cramping, heartburn (this has been a more recent thing), urgent need to urinate (however no pain), bowel changes (I am either constipated or diarrhoea), irregular periods (my periods are becoming later and later every month and have become heavier) and finally weight gain.

I have been to see my GP previously, who fobbed me off with potentially either thyroid problems or early menopause?!! However, I have seen another GP since who advised my thyroids looked fine but my liver function was heightened (as I’ve had a blood test). She wants me to re-do my liver function and has also scheduled me to go for an US.. which is booked for 17/08/2023. So I’m assuming they will be checking my pelvic area with this scan? I did mention I was advised I had a large cyst whilst pregnant, however, this was 2.5 years ago.. so unsure whether this could be the same cyst or not?

No real point to this post, I just wanted to air my worries as the closer I am getting to my scan, the more worried I am getting. My belly is so swollen and even moving around, it feels like there is something being crushed in my pelvis.

Is anyone going through anything similar? Or been through similar symptoms and can talk to me? I don’t want to worry my husband too much, so I haven’t told him the complete extent of my symptoms x

  • Thank you for your reply Leni56 :-) I appreciate your comment and it’s given me a bit of reassurance that hopefully my cysts may well be benign.

Defo a waiting game and I will try and keep as busy as I can!

With your cysts.. are they doing anything about them or just keeping an eye?

  • So far they've just given me repeat ultrasounds - and put me on the coil to regulate my hormones. Some of the cysts had gone by the next scan, 1 had halved in size but the largest one at 5.5cm was unchanged. I had another ultrasound a few weeks ago  but got called in for a hysteroscopy a few days later, where I had more polyps removed and she mentioned something about surgery since the coil was not working and I had the cyst. I'm seeing my consultant next week (first actual appointment with her and arranged months ago ) so I'm hoping to find out more then, though the biopsy results may not be back yet.

For me, none of the cysts looked suspect and none were large enough to be automatically removed. I'm assuming my cyst was still unchanged on that latest ultrasound, all I actually know at this stage is that its still there
