Breast clinic app date 4th August, is anyone else's around then?

Hi, i found a lump in my breast Tuesday night. Went to see the GP Wednesday morning and he referred me straight to the breast clinic and said I'd hear something within the week about an appointment. Got a letter by email this morning saying my appointment is on the 4th of August which is a week today!

Anyone else waiting for an appointment? Or got one confirmed on or around that day?

Just thought it would be nice for us who are going through the same thing to have a chat whilst we wait :) as its so nerve wrecking!

  • I'm back from my appointment, it didn't take long at all as I was the first patient. Was only there for 45 minutes! Maybe less! So first saw the consultant who did a breast exam. He said he could feel a definite lump and circled it and sent me off to the ultrasound room. Whilst I was having my ultrasound apparently the consultant felt another lump and not the one I went in for so she scanned where he circled and said she'd passed over another lump (the one I knew i had) so she scanned the first lump and said it was a cyst and drained it and said see if you can still feel the lump you came in with. So i felt it and said yeah its still there and big and she said I thought so he's felt the wrong lump (not very ensuring) she scanned the lump I went with and said it defo needs a biopsy but there was also a another cyst attached to it so she drained that first, then did THREE core biopsies on the lump and said there was some calcification (or something like that) in it and she thought it might be a papilloma which I've never heard of. I asked what this was and she said its usually a benign growth but they can turn cancerous so they like to take them out. I should of got my results on the 14th but as I'll be away I've got to wait until the 21st which is abit worrying as I'm a nervous waiter. Apparently my breast is going to bruise really badly as I bled alot inside and I'm to do no heavy lifting in the next 24 hours. I've come home, partner is still asleep on the sofa. One daughter is up and asking where I've been, told her I went to physio. I've googled papilloma and it said its a wart type growth in the breast ducts, defo doesn't feel like a wart! I wish I wasn't going away now :(

  • Hi, just read your message , I’ve got two benign cysts ,had them over 30 yrs, they’re still ok! Not heard of papilloma in breast but they’re doing lots of checks so sound very thorough, take consolation that they’ve seen your lump and called it a cyst although with calcification which isn’t usually serious. Could they not text message your results? Could you see them on your nhs hub. Just had a soakin the bath and going out for a walk with the pooch , cold compress on boobs.

oh oh, just had telephone call, appointment cancelled, next Friday instead, Keep the faith x

  • Ros

good news if they saying cyts , do you feel better now you have been ? Xxx

  • Oh I'm sorry your appointment has been cancelled!! How disappointing! I asked if they could phone with the results but they said no they always like to see face to face, can't see my results online either which is so frustrating. Just got to hope there's no cancerous cells in the papilloma

  • Hi lara, I had 2 cysts but one was connected to what they called a papilloma, have you heard much about those? Been biospied for cancerous cells so no don't really feel any better but thanks for asking! As I'm going away for 10 days I've got to wait till the 21st for my results which feels like a lifetime away

  • Hi RosenInn, glad to hear you were seen quickly at the appointment. Sorry it involves more waiting for you but it's good that they're checking things out thoroughly x

  • Thanks Anne suppose I've just got to play the waiting game. Its just scary, I've done some research in papillomas and the most common symptom is bloody discharge from the nipple which I haven't had. So I'm thinking its not that. Plus they describe it as a wart and mines a rock solid oval 1cm lump, doesn't sound very wart like

  • That's a bit pants, its horrible when you are having to wait.  I am sorry they have postponed your appointment.

  • That sounds more like a fibroadema but the truth is until you get the results you won't know.  Wishing you well during this waiting phase.

  • Thats what my gp said he thought it was before referring me to the breast clinic. I have just been on my NHS app and noticed that they have sent me a bunch of information on macmillan cancer research, is that a normal thing for them to do?
