Worried about lump on arm. Ultrasound this Wednesday

Hey Guys!

For a few years now I've had a lump on my arm. Dr said it was just a fatty lump and it's not until recently it's grown and 4 weeks ago it was causing me terrible pain. How I can explain it was like having a tooth ache but in my arm. I plucked up the courage to go to the drs on the 1st of February. The drs measured it and measured 6cm by 4cm. She mentioned lipoma but said she would refer me for a scan just to be on the safe side.

She also requested that I have some bloods done also.

Bloods have come back as elevated white blood cells.

My appointment for a ultra sound scan is on Wednesday, I believe I was put on the 2 week wait referral path.

I am a little scared, I'm human but what is hurting me the most is that I've not told my mum because purely I don't want to worry her. I tell my Mum everything but this I can't bring myself too.  My Mum is my rock and I am hers too. I looked after her through her cancer and treatment 3 years ago.

I would love to hear from anyone who else is going through or have been through the same.

  • Thankyou Jolamine :) I will let you know when the referral comes through.

Take care and again thankyou :) xx

  • Hi I have a similar sized lump in my upper arm.  It suddenly appeared on 1st Feb.  I was quickly referred by GP for an ultrasound which showed a lump inside my deltoid muscle.  He thought it was a lipoma but due to size (6x4cm) and intramuscular position I had an MRI two weeks later.  They referred my scans to the sarcoma unit MDT meeting.  They thought it was a lipoma so it was never biopsied.  For three months I was in a lot of pain.  Felt like my arm was being punched.  I took codine at night in order to sleep.  For the past month the pain is barely noticeable as the lump has grown rounder and moved further around my arm.  The lump is visible and feels hard - due to it not being in the fat layer as its much deeper. The pain was due to the lump pressing on nerves inside my arm.  Last week my GP referred me to a surgeon to have it removed as it is restricting my arm movement.  I was worried sick for the first two months but trust the sarcoma team so now I'm not worried at all.  I also Googled at the beginning and was concerned it was a sarcoma.  Im not in a rush to have it removed since the pain reduced but will have it removed due to restricted arm movement.  I already have leg mobility issues so need both arms to be 100%.  Other than that I don't mind the lump now I know its not dangerous.  I hope this helps.  X
