Swollen neck/lump

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has been through the same.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago I had a lump/swelling on the right side of my neck just over from the front.

I went to the doctors and he said it looked fine and he's not worried, it seems to have came out of nowhere.

Hes referred me for a routine ultrasound and I've been told it could take up to 6 weeks to be seen .

I cant help but worry about it.

Thanks for reading

  • Thank you of corse once its done and I'm upto it I'll pop a message in here.

  • Hi [@lump85]‍

ive been reading your story and I'm sorry  How are you doing post op? I'm at the waiting stage after an MRI was done in March, which was reported to me over the phone in April as finding an enlarged thyroid. I looked in the mirror and found it was a one sided lump so I pushed and pushed  finally got the biopsy in May; Th3 inconclusive result in June and have been waiting for the op to remove and core biopsy ever since.

I only hope that you are getting the very best care now  and that your recovery is going well

    take care x

  • Hi thanks for your reply I had my op 13 days ago unfortunately for me I still haven't been discharged from hospital what was supposed to be 5 days has turned into a bit of a nightmare, My wound is healing very well surgeon has done an excellent job but I had my parathyroid glands removed too as well as all my lymph nodes in the left side of my neck. This has resulted in my calcium levels playing up so until they get a balance they won't let me home. Pain wise I've survived on paracetamol and ibuprofen which I no longer need and I've been able to eat and swallow as normal but I have lost my appetite. I really hope you get sorted and definitely keep on at them until your sorted.

  • Oh gosh! You are having it rough. I'm so sorry. I'm glad the pain is manageable and I only hope you get to go home soon. Have they said what's next for you? Sending tons of well wishes ️

  • RAI has been discussed but I've no idea when that will be. I haven't even been told how bad my cancer was its still getting tested as far as I know. The hospital staff have been great with me I must admit but sharing a room with 5 other people has been challenging lol.

  • My god I bet. I've never really stayed in hospital for long. With my girls I came out the same day after giving birth and even after my double mastectomy they packed me off the next day!! I can only imagine the challenges. I'm glad the staff are treating you well. Keep fighting for you and please keep sharing for us if you can. Take care x
