Hi Ladies. my doctor referred me to a breast clinic on the 10th after finding a lump in my left breast. Worried sick like everyone here. Can anyone explain the emergency two week referral to me please? I got a letter from the doctor to say I should phone the clinic for an apt if I havent heard from them today and when i did the lady on the phone complained about doctors putting this in their letters and that the two week referal wasnt that i would be seen within two weeks but that they would contact me within two weeks. Is this correct? She was very abrupt on the phone & I know its silly but she's really upset me with her manner. I guess i am proably just disappointed that i wont get an appointment this side of xmas. Wondering if i should contact my health insurer to see if i could get seen faster but my doctor did advise against this route & I was in such a confused state at the apt i didnt think to ask why.

Hi I hadn't received any appointment and I was seen by gp on 8th dec. when doctor sent my referral letter through there was a booking number and password so I went on nhs referrals and found my appointment date and time. So if u give that letter you might be able to find it. I think the reason your gp advised not going down other route is because when your in nhs system all the multi disciplinary teams are set uP already if anything abnormal found. If you go private as such you then have to get back into the system .  I know the wait is horrendous I'm going out of my Mind with anxiety and going on third 23rd dec at 11. Hope you can get appt sorted

Thanks for the reply. I did login to that nhs referral site and it says the same there -  the clinic will contact me for an apt and if i dont hear from them by the 15th to call them. I think i'll try calling them again later and hopefully get to speak with a different person this time who might be more helpful.

I have just joined . Found round movable lump in left breast and got reffered and waiting.feeling pretty misserable with Xmas coming up ! I don't think I'd be able to enjoy it at all ! wishing everyone good luck with their appointments x
