Masectomy

Hi all,

Further down the line, I have Ductal BC 29mm tumour. Sentinel node scan this morning before masectomy, surgery tomorrow. Decided on masectomy rather than lumpectomy as have 2 liasons behind mass, so rather than a biopsy MRI scan on those which would delay surgery,  will have all removed and 1 lymph node under arm. Then depending on results of surgery the team will decide on treatment. Hoping not chemo but prepared for it . I also have 2 liasons on chest wall which will need radiotherapy. Also medication for HER 2 positive oestrogen diagnosis. Have had anxiety and insomnia which is normal I'm sure, especially after MRI and CT Scans to see if cancer has spread anywhere else. My worst was was the MRI as a bit panicky through that. This is my journey, just thought I would share, everybody's different. Glad I have come this far and you do feel better once you know and treatment starts. Amazingly strength arrives to see you through.

My best wishes to all. Will check in after surgery! Silver xxx

  • Hi Embop

How you doing?  Not long until your appointment tomorrow, what time is it?  I'll be thinking of you!  As you say, the Dr's will make the best decisions they can as they have all the information, we really are in their hands and let's be honest, it's in their interest as well as ours to give us the best treatment,

You will be getting nervous but as you say, at least you'll know the next steps.  Please let me know how you get on.

I'm doing good, it's only 6 days since my mastectomy but I'm getting out and about, preparing all our meals and walking the dog so whilst I have "quiet" moments, I'm now focusing on moving forward......  Our Daughter and  2 year old Grandson arrive tomorrow for a 5 day stay so really looking forward to that.

    Please keep me updated.
