anyone refused Chemo?

Hi I'm new here and have been reading some message which is really helpful thank you so much...

I had a lumpectomy few weeks ago grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, still recovering from surgery and is still in a lot of pain. I have just been told of the treatment I need to go through.. Chemo. My little brain couldn't cope and I'm just so scared. Has anyone refused to go through the nightmare of having chemotherapy?

  • Hi [@Chriss][@Marlyn][@Positvegal35]‍  I'm still here had finished all my treatments chemotherapy and radiotherapy with some ups and downs whilst doing it but God is good I'm on to my next journey road to recovery. I'm on Tamoxifen now for 5years and still having Herceptin injection every 3weeks. I'm due to be back at work in Aug but a little scared because of what's been going on in the world . Tamoxifen is not being good to me had joint pains feel like my age doubled, feeling bloated, and oh my i burped all the time . Just wanted to say thank you for making me stay positive and for all the kind words. Hope you are all well and please let me know how you all are doing. Thank you so much. Take care always xxxxx

  • Hi there ...

Thanks for getting back ... it really means a lot to us ....  I'm so glad your seeing the light at the end of the tunnel ... there's a rainbow there too ..

The tamoxifen was horrendous for me ... emotionally it turned me to a blubbering wreck and I stuck it for 2 years untill the pain in my body was making me not able to move at all .. but came off gradually and my body is way better now .. if you ask it doesn't give you much grater odds being on it... I was told it improved by 3% which for me was a no brainer ... but saying that many people cope really well and feel it's worth a 3 % improvement in reacurance... it's got to be a personal choice ..

But high 5 to you getting this far ... I'm sure [@Marlyn]‍ will be well chuffed too .. so onward and up, till you get your rainbow ... never forget your journey  .. as im sure in life theres others just starting theirs  who you can help and hold their hand ...

Life is never the same after cancer ... we have to find a new normal ... it's not a bad thing ... it can make us look at life differently ... take nothing for granted ... stay away from grumpy miserable people , they havnt a clue ... take every day as a bonus ... no one knows if they tomorrow... so live love and more important laugh .... sending you a vertual hug.... Chrissie x

  • Hi sorry I have taken so long to reply. I took a break from cancer I wish. I'm so glad you finished all your treatments. Knew you could do it. I'm just waiting to get a scan on Thursday as I have bone pain and a swelling on the nape of my neck. Mind working overtime. How are you doing? Xx
