    Hi Alena,

I am so sorry to hear that your mum has been hit by breast cancer too. Do you know what grade or type of breast cancer she has? I am glad to hear that she has managed to finish her chemo and, that she is now having radiotherapy. We can get pain in many joints due to treatment and, I am sorry to hear that your mum is having pain in her hand.

Unfortunately, a cancer diagnosis doesn't just affect the person who has cancer. It affects all of their family too. It is normal for people to feel sad when they have cancer and, I can understand how kids can feel this too. When your mum is low like this, can you help her by telling her how much you love her and talking to her, as well as keeping her company. Can I ask what age you are and what siblings you have?

I hope that you have a family member or friend that you can discuss your feelings with and who can support you through this. It sounds as if your mum has been through the worst parts of surgery and treatment and, once her radiotherapy is finished, she should begin to feel better again.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how her radiotherapy goes.

We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi [@Woollylamb][@Jolamine][@BigJean]‍

how are you lovely ladies? Hope you are ok x just letting you know I finished my treatment today - last radiotherapy session. Just tablets for next five years which I’ve already started. Wooolylv I think you said you started them? How are you getting on with them? Not sure if it’s them that is increasing my hot flushes under my arm is quite sore from rAdio and my arm is tight like it was after lymph nodes removal but they have said to do exercises and it should be ok. Also tip of arm is swelling but got to keep an eye on that and phone breast nurses if it continues or gets worse but you know what I can deal with all these little niggles x what I’ve got to do is get my head in the right place to look forward and not fear the future. Please all have a lovely Christmas and let me know how you are doing. Without you lot on here especially jolamine and her knowledge I would have sent myself crazy. You ladies have listened to my fears etc and for that I’m eternally grateful xx

  • Jolamine

yes your right. I was given one by my breast nurse yesterday and it helped as my lymph nodes were removed it’s kind of soothing xx

    Hi Mejules,

Finished your radiotherapy just in time for Christmas? - Fantastic! What tablets are you taking? It is possible that they are causing the hot flushes, but if these are bad , there is other medication that can be prescribed. It's just a case of having a chat with your breast care nurse.

Sorry to hear about the pain, stiffness and swelling in your arm. Make sure that you keep doing the exercises regularly, as this should settle.

You are soon starting a new year, a good time to put this ghastly experience behind you and, to move forward with positivity.

I am doing well thank you, although still waiting for my brain scan. I was told that it would be 5-6 weeks, but so far it has been 10 - I just want it over with, so will phone the hospital on Monday.

Are you all prepared for Christmas? I hope that you have a Wonderful Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • [[ ]]Hey [@BigJean]‍ , [@mejules][@Jolamine]‍

Happy New Year. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and here's to a healthy 2020.  How are you all doing? I switched off from eveything over December and didn't have any appointments and it did me the world of good.

I start radiotherapy next Friday for 3 weeks, started tamoxifen which I am coping with and have agreed to zoladex and bisphosphonates which I'm a bit anxious about but will see how I go.

Other than that I've been trying to improve my wAtercolour painting.

    Hi Wollylamb, @BigJean , @mejules ‍

A Very Healthy and Happy New Year to all of you too.

I am glad to hear that you managed to switch off for Christmas Wollylamb.  I'm sure that this did you a world of good. I hope that you other ladies managed to do the same. It is good news that you are coping well with Tamoxifen so far - I hope that this continues and that all goes well with your radiotherapy next week.

Keep up the painting and enjoy!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi ladies

just wondering how you are all getting along? I have finished all of my treatment and had a ct scan a couple of weeks ago and was given the all clear!!!!! It's been a tough year but got there in the end, I'm still recovering but hoping to start back at work in a couple of weeks....from home.

  • How lovely to hear from you woollylamb I kept meaning to come in here and see how everyone was doing. Fantastic news hun. I've been back at work for four weeks before received the text about self isolating for 12 weeks. Xx

  • Hello BigJean,

just to say I think it’s really common to feel every pain/itch or whatever is cancer. Once we hear that word it’s very hard to stop it taking over your life.

I have recently completed radiotherapy treatment and have had a persistent pain in my ribs for a while. Today I realised I hadn’t got it!! I honestly think it was psychosomatic. Had a similar pain before I knew what my treatment path would be and again during the time I awaited my onco test results. So in my case tension and anxiety certainly resulted in physical pain. I suspect the pain in your back is similar.

Hoping trratment goes well for you  in these awful covid times.

    Go well.
