Just been diagnosed with breast cancer age 29

Hi,  just got my news yesterday afternoon, that I have breast cancer, grade 2, 3cm lump which is visible, it’s growing at a fast rate, they don’t think it’s in my lymph nodes, got to go back to hospital Saturday for treatment plan, I’ve got to have 6 months of chemotherapy first, starting that within 1-2weeks, then surgery to remove it, then radiotherapy after, I’m so so scared, I also have three children, Its very hard to take all this in, this has come about within a week, went to the doctors on Boxing Day, then referred to hospital, to be seen the day after, to have triple assessment, at first they thought it was a cyst, to realise it wasnt

  • Your a strong women, you've got this . It's very fortunate you're having chemo first, so they didn't miss the other lump. I personally think they should do mri scans on everyone before doing any treatment, so they get a full picture. I haven't had a full mri scan. Many consultants don't like to do that though, and think it's unnecessary, which makes me so angry. I think it's a brilliant idea you'll look into it, mammograms need the age to be lowered to be allowed them, it can save young peoples lives too. I know personally for me, my second cancer didn't show up at all on a mammogram, I have very dense breast tissue, luckily it was my breast surgeon from my first cancer who felt and found my second cancer because I kept telling her I don't feel well, (although she thought it was an enlarged lymph node) she did send me for an ultrasound and biopsy. More definitely needs to be done. Sending you big hugs xxx

  • I understand the mammogram age limit because of the density of breast tissue but surely having regular ultrasounds or MRI scans would be beneficial. I get it will all cost the NHS money but surely the cost of early screening wouldn't be as much as the costs of treatment if things aren't found early enough.

I'm going to research this and see if there is something we can do to push it. Surely early screening is somehow possible.

Stay strong ladies, keep in touch. We've got this!

  • Hi Amy,

How is it going? Do you want to add me as a friend so that we can continue lifting each other's spirit up. I've done all scan and blood test. Starting chemo in few days. Don't ask me how I am, I am sure you can imagine.

    Ade. X

    How are you?

  • Nice to hear from you Ade

I'm very much up and down at the moment, as I'm sure we all are.

It's was 1 month today that I had my biopsy and was told they were concerned it was cancer. 1 month that my life has been turned upside down.....seems so much longer, I don't even remember what "normal" feels like.

I should be starting chemo in next couple of weeks. Just need to get on with it now. I've added you as a friend so we can keep in touch through it all.

Can I just ask have you been diagnosed with triple positive aswell?
