Hello

so pleased to find you all! I was diagnosed yesterday with stage 2 invasive lobular breast cancer. I have to say I feel positive at the moment as it could have been much worse. I am fortunate to have a wonderful support network of family and friends however I know how it helps to communicate with others who understand. I am ok today. I may need you guys tomorrow or when treatment starts! Let battle commence!

  • Hello Harvell. Great news about your MRI results. Really pleased for you.  Mine were clear too but they did discover that my cancer was actually 30 rather than 13mm!!  Not that it had grown he said, just that lobular is good at hiding it would seem.

All actions stations go for you now then. Do you feel better now plans are made, you know where you are and what’s happening?  So were you advised to have the lumpectomy and radiotherapy?  Are you having any kind of cconserving surgery?  The disadvantage of me being smaller-breasted with 30mm cancer means it’s still a relatively sizeable chunk to be removed.

I’ve got some decision making to do on my surgery - and reconstruction/conserving options as my consultant has now advised mastectomy rather than lumpectomy - but still my choice.   Once I go back on Monday - with a decisio(!) my dates will get sorted.

So you’ll be able to put your feet up over the festivities and concentrate on rest and recuperate.  Hope you’ll have people to wait on you .

  • Oh my word Neenj! What a shock for you. That's more than double the size. Good that your surgeon reassured you. I do feel so much calmer now I know what the plan is. I have enough fat to make a lumpectomy possible. Radiotherapy and then hormone inhibitors are recommended however I have a lot of questions about the inhibitors. We have to remain positive and you have a big decision to make. I have a friend whose reconstructed breast after mastectomy is amazing! I will be thinking of you. Look after yourself. X

    Hi Harvell,

I am delighted to hear that your MRI was clear. So, it's all ready for 17th now.

Your mum has certainly been through the mill. If you have even one quarter of her strength, you'll get through this no bother.

    Keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi all

my surgery was brought forward and I am now sat feet up directing my hubby around! I want to reassure anybody who is anxious ( and I was) about having a lumpectomy etc that it isn't that bad! The nurses and doctors were lovely and I am not too sore. Pathology results for nodes next week. Keeping positive and fighting this.....
