Stomach cancer

Hi I'm Ann and found out a week ago after having a endoscopy that I have a huge cancer in my tummy.. I've been poorly since March but my fastrack was thrown out in May and appointment came through for 1st of October... good job my husband paid private

  • Hi Louise

How are things going?  How are you feeling?

I couldn't have picc line inserted my veins kept collapsing got to have Hickman line in my chest in the theatre.. so treatment had to be delayed until next week

    Take care

  • Hi Louise

How are you doing... what stage are you at?

  • Hi Ann

    good to hear from you!

I’m doing well, chemo was hard especially the first one, but last one was nearly 6 weeks ago now and I’m feeling good, managed to put all weight back on that I’d lost (and probably a bit more), I had CT scan last week and meeting my team next week for an update and a laparoscopy on 21st, main surgery is on 2nd January.

How did you get on through chemo? I found each one got easier but had to have reduced docetaxel on the last one due to neuropathy, hoping I manage 4 after surgery.

Hope you are coping well, will you be home for Christmas? How are you feeling about it all?

    Hugs louise xx

  • Morning!

Lovely to hear back from you. I found the chemo awful, if it wasn't for feeling better before the next one I couldn't of gone through with it. I was hoping to feel better by now but having tummy pains all the time and still being sick... I'm just not digesting my food.. got to have another blood transfusion on Thursday.. it seems one thing after another..but after my CT scan they said my cancer had shrunk significantly and the oncologist was very happy the chemo had worked... apparently it doesn't work for everyone.. glad going through it wasn't in vein..

I'm glad your feeling ok and hope you have a nice Christmas with the kids.. they think o should be home for new year..

    Love Ann xx

  • Sorry chemo was so bad, it was harder than I expected, I felt like I hardly had any good days the whole time, had to take a sedative to get me to the chair on chemo days!

wonderful to hear the chemo has done it’s job!! I’m hoping I’ll be told the same next week, must say I’m really nervous about it, I suppose that’s normal.

I really hope all goes well next week and you’re out for new year. I will be thinking of you. Let me know how you are once you have the strength.

    Xx
